I hit the BIN on a few items. I wanted to see what else the seller was listing and wanted some of his auctions to end, so I didn't pay immediatley. A few days later, my bank account was cleared out (I have other monies, but it's a PITA to get to them, and I had enough cash to last for a few days until my checking acct situation is cleared up) viewtopic.php?f=23&t=120325

So, that took some time to clear up. During that time, I was hit with the non paying bidding warning. Shortly after the NPB, and almost simultaneously, I sent the seller an email apologizing for the wait, adivisng that my bank account was cleared out, and that I'd be paying for the items soon. Again, almost simultaneously, he hit the BIN on two of MY items that were a little more expensive ($150 and $250) and honestly, hadn't gotten very much attention whatsoever from other bidders. A few hours later, I paid for the two items I owed him and NPB warnings were closed.

Two days later, I sent a eBay message to the buyer/seller asking if he was still interested in the cards. He replied that "It's only been two days...Be patient". Looking at the buyer/seller's purchases, he is only buying coin related items.

So, I guess I'm perfectly insulated; I can leave whatever feedback I want on the two cards if/when I get them (I have my doubts), and if he doesn't pay for the cards, he can't leave me feedback. I highly doubt he will. If he does pay for the cards, it's my paranoid guess that I'm going to get hit with a paypal chargeback for items not as described. How does one avoid an items not as described other than to purchase insurance with the PO? And if I purchase insurance from the PO (I have to go to the PO anyway to get signature DC), can I file a claim without any assistance from the original buyer?

Thanks. Never had it get to this point before. I'll post the buyer's name if/when this goes south. Right now, I just see the writing on the wall.

The only thing I can think of won't help you now: create another account and use one account you have to buy and the other to sell.

how about requesting his phone # and just calling him to explain? Maybe if you apologize all over yourself, he won't be an a-hole. It'd be annoying, but if it works it'll be better than the headache that he might give you later.

This is a good idea.

Worst case scenario is that the guy doesn't care, but you can least verbally explain that what happened.

Either way, the seller should be able to do a simple search of your feedback and see that this clearly shouldn't be an issue and therefore something logically is "up." I don't get why some sellers treat all buyers like someone with less than 10 feedback.

WEll, the bottom line is that he hit the BIN on $400 worth of my stuff, now generating a ton of eBay fees. I REALLY don't think he wanted them. I call him to apologize, again, after I sent the email, can't lead to anything positive unless he eats crow and says "I hit the BIN on your items to try to frick you over too". Nothing good comes from anything that can be done. I was just looking into advice regarding PO insurance claims; I've never had to do same.

I think he may have hit your BIN's in case you did not pay. His intent was probably to have two bullets to leave you negative feedback in case you left him less than positive for making you jump through hoops. He probably figured you'd leave less than 5's on feedback in the subcategories if you didn't drop the negs.

Send a request to cancel the transaction. This is done through eBay tools. Buyer off the hook to pay, seller off the hook with feedback, and seller off the hook for fees. I won't call it a win-win but it does address and close your concerns.

The "N" in "BIN" stands for "Now"

Not "Nextweek"

He did buy it now(which was then)

BiN doesn't stand for Pay for it Now. Unless there's immediate payment required, he can hit the BiN and pay for it next week.

Personally, I'd wait for my items and leave the deserved feedback/DSR's. If he doesn't pay for his items, then 10 days after the sale just do the NPB thing and get your fees back and relist. It's likely you're burning your energy for nothing. He could just string out the payment because he felt you did, which is pretty lame, but if I was getting $400 from a sale, I wouldn't care as long as the payment comes. It would be funny if he pays on day 7 with an E-check :)

That's rather inane. 1) One can be kicked off of eBay for leaving retaliatory feedback. I've done it to someone else and gotten them booted. 2) He's now on the hook for $400 to me. He could have hit less expensive BINs...

I am just trying to figure out what his game is and insulate myself in case he does pay and there's a chargeback.

Either cancel the transaction(the one where he purchased your items) or simply see if he pays. If he does pay you can always just not send the items and tell him you did. Its a pretty crappy thing to do but this is a special set of circumstances. And the difference between you and him is...you actually purchased his items because you wanted them. He most likely did not hit the BIN on yours for the same reason. So now...if he does end up paying...he is probably looking to get his money back since he doesn't want the items. So by you not sending them to him...you might be out some fees, and yes he will win the hell out of the charge back, but you will still have the cards. Because looking at how this thing is playing out...you might be out cards and money if you do end up sending them out. Just my two cents...

Re: Okay guys, here's an interesting eBay scenario...

Filed a NPB.

Received this message:

"Let me see how this works PUNK!!!..You take nine days to pay for stuff you bid on of mine with absolutely no response to my emails and now you want immediate payment for items I bid on of yours. Keep waiting PUNK!!"

This won't end well.

I'll be calling eBay in a few minute when they open to try to cancel the transactions.

Jeff, have you tried to "cancel" the transaction as one of the options on the auction screen?

Either way, save that feedback, it's sounds like you need it for retaliatory feedback depending on how this shakes out.

If I do that, I lose the NPB option.

I'm going to call eBay and hope that they'll cancel it based on this threatening msg...

True, you'll lose the NPB option, but you'll get your auction fees back, and the buyer can't leave feedback.

The threatening message is certainly good for a ding on his account, so that option sounds good...and will probably be coupled with your fees back and zero feedback possibility for him.

eBay CS is worthless in this situation.

Called the buyer/seller. . . whoooooboy. Haven't had that many f-bombs thrown at me in a while. That being said, I think he's gonna let the NPB go to the end and not pay... which works for me.

He called it a "BS story". He calmed down when I offered to fax him copies of correspondence to and from my bank regarding the disputed items.

He was this upset after not getting paid for 2 cards totalling $22 for 9 days.

Insane. He still hasn't shipped my stuff out. I offered him the option of a refund or the cards. I will be videotaping my opening of the envelope, if I ever see it.

Nuts. Just plain nuts. Sorry to hear about this, Jeff. This seems like the best thing will be if you get your fees back from eBay for your sales or re-list them, and just let him drop and block him forever.
