Where are you getting your bubble mailers?
Wow, that is a lot of $$ for a mailer. If you buy in bulk, you will pay between .11-.15 per.
I also call BS on your top loader price. I am willing to bet that 95% of sellers reuse top loaders. I know that I do.
I too think that $3.00 is excessive for one card. Generally I will not bid if the shipping is that high, mostly on principle.
If I do bid on something with a shipping charge of $3.00, that means I am getting a heck of a deal on the card and just grin and bear it. I have NEVER dinged anyone for shipping costs UNLESS I'm charged $2.00 or more and receive a PWE.

Not all people have the need for bulk mailing materials or the space to store them. Casual sellers dont keep a few hundred envelopes lying around so some idiot wont ding them on ratings. Go to Staples or Walmart and buy a single #00 bubble envelope...its not $0.11-0.15 --- the USPS charge $1.29 per.

Again, NOT ALL SELLERS ARE SUPPLEMENTING INCOME.

As for my price on toploaders $2.55 on a pack of 100 - not including the sleeves and team bags = $0.25 each...math is simple. I dont reuse toploaders - If they look like crap they are disposed, including ones that come from other people. The only stuff that I buy is for me and not resale, so I dont reuse those toploaders either.

You clearly weren't a math major.

I just paid $5.95 shipping on something, received the item one day later than the expected delivery (per eBay) and a notice for $0.77 postage due.

Assuming he credits me the 77 cents, I'll leave a 2 star rating for shipping costs. If he takes more than 24 hours, I'll leave a negative and a 1 star.

I have no problem working in the shipping costs, but if I'm going to over pay, get the item to me on-time without postage due.

(Oh, and while I can be an *******, at least I'm reasonable.)

What were his stated shipping costs?

$5.95. So I knew up front what I was paying and would have left 5 stars regardless of the expensive costs because I agreed to them at purchase. When it comes without DC and with postage due a day late...5 stars are no longer an option.

No different than anything else, I expect more if I'm paying more. If I get free shipping, get it to me safe in a reasonable amount of time...bravo. I have done free shipping with bubble mailer, top loader, cardboard backing, team bag, etc for a year and it's been more than worth it for my ratings and discount...and no hassle.

You are correct...I actually didnt proof read this either since I am at work and posting replies quickly. I have three other costs that go into that - which in my mind I though I mentioned in this post.

My toploaders are in packs of 50 - $2.55 --- $0.05
sleeves are 100 - $2.25 --- $0.03
team bags are 100 - $3.50 --- $0.04
I also use a manilla coin enveople inside the bubble -- $0.10 each

totals to the $0.22 i first stated.

= grasping straws

Not sure where you're buying your coin envelopes...but the smallest box at your local overpriced Staples is less than half of that.

So no, we're not back to the 25 cents (for top loaders alone) you first stated. Own it. Move on.

You should. Makes a big difference in costs, unless you re-cycle bubble envelopes which must be a fad right now.
Not really just cost effective

Why does ebay care? If sellers have bad ratings don't they get charged higher fees which is more money for ebay?

I dont know why more sellers havent figured out to just raise the price item by 2 or 3 bucks and offer free shipping.

Because the item maybe over priced then and not sell. I have though used that method when doing a BIN/BO but when your using the .99 and letting it ride
you may not get the price you ant and then yu may not make much on the sale after the shipping cost anyway.
