I hope you're right, but I tend to side with recent numbers over career numbers. Especially for guys over 30.
Well considering he can hit LHP very well, and has been able to hit RHP in the past....I think he will do just fine. Never hurts to have a switch hitter who can play all OF positions on the team....especially with the weak crop of OF free agents. To get anyone better would cost us either tons of money or top prospects, none of which would help us in the long run.

I'm hoping we keep Ellsbury and this guy pans out for us!!!! (and remember, we got Sands and DeJesus Jr in the wings, both of whom have proven highly successful at AAA):

Intriguing. If Ellsbury could stay on the baseball field for 150 games every year, I would do it. I don't think the Orioles will even considerate it though.

Really, you would really give up Bundy for a one year rental of Ellsbury?

I find all of this to be intriguing. Obviously they weren't performing on the field but I think the top priority had to be getting rid of that ridiculous clubhouse attitude. I'm not sure how the recent new signings are in regards to that area, but if they can foster a better atmosphere in the clubhouse which will be huge for any of the new/younger players getting called up and instill that "team" mentality that has been lost for a few years now, that will be more important than I think many people give it credit for.

There's a lot of factors that come into the play with the notion of Ellsbury for Bundy straight up. The biggest concern for me would be health. There's no way to guarantee it, so I wouldn't risk the trade.

But to answer your question - would I trade Bundy for a guaranteed completely healthy Ellsbury for one year? Yes, I would. Because we'll have an edge on re-signing him long term as well. We've seen what Ellsbury is capable off at the MLB level in the AL East. We have no clue what Bundy will be like.

Are we talking 2011 Ellsbury or every other year of his career?

Nice card. Our future rotation definitely looks promising. With the Sox still looking for another SP does that mean Morales is a no-go to fill out the 5th spot? I heard he is prepping this off-season as a starter (not a bad thing considering if we do end up signing a pitcher he can still be our long reliever)

I'm talking about a completely healthy Ellsbury. Not sure how I can express it any other way. There's nothing wrong with the 2 full seasons he played in 08 and 09 (his rookie and 2nd season in the bigs). He was hurt the next year and had an MVP type season in 2011 and hurt in 2012.

As long as he avoids body to body contact with other players he will be perfectly healthy.

Kind of tired talking about it  Duquette won't even entertain the thought.

Just do the Arrieta and 2 prospect pitchers trade for Billy Butler. He'll be a nice addition.

Thanks. Did you know he has the highest average velocity of any pitcher in MLB? Higher than Verlander! Oh YEAH! Let's go Rubby! I'd love to see a rotation including Rubby, Doubront, and Barnes.

I think Morales is good/solid, but he's very needed in that bullpen.

Diff subject: I sure would like to be Jason Bay in 2013-- being paid over $18 million for doing NOTHING.

I couldn't agree more. Seems like there is a lot of potential there.

Plus, he's a Yankee killer!

Not sure his defense is where they want it to be, but I think he's in the mix for the starting SS position if Iglesias hits under .150 in ST.

The guy couldn't have done any better against their biggest rival. He was a bright spot in a dark year. In my opinion, he should play every day.

How the heck is Iglesias going to get his average up to .150? ;)

Last years clubhouse problems were the manager! His crazy ass is gone! I'd say the common hatred of numbnuts has brought the boys back together!

I still think they need to target a SS and c buuuut I've been saying that for 4 years. Tampa picked up Escobar on the cheap!! which I would have loved!

Rangers and Red Sox should just do a trade and get it over with. Ellsbury, Lester, and Saltalamacchia to Texas for Andrus, Martin Perez, Cody Buckel, and Kevin Matthews.

Red Sox get SS, Rangers keep Profar and Olt, Red Sox get three quality young arms. Rangers get AS OF and SP and a C they could use.

What's going to happen with the outfield when Bradley Jr. and Brentz are ready? Trade Ellsbury yeah, but then what else? How about Swihart, just move Napoli to 1st or DH?

What do you mean? Victorino is the only player signed to a 3 year deal....until then Ellsbury will be gone and Gomes will be a 4th OFer (assuming those guys are ML ready by 14'). Napoli will DH when Ortiz' contract is up with a little 1B/C on the side.

Against the Yankees.

I don't like his defense enough to be a full time player...did you watch him at SS/3B last season? Not to mention the only way Iglesias is going to learn how to handle ML pitching is if he gets playing time. He's still raw with the bat but if he bulks up a bit during the offseason and goes to the batting cages everyday he might figure it out. Granted I don't ever see him hitting .300 but a respectable .250 with an Ozzie Smith glove is perfectly fine at the #9 spot.
