Brian, I love the new sig banner! That's hot!! I've been thinking of a new one I want, with Rickey facing Rickey in some rock-paper-scissors, while Rickey looks on and drinks a Pepsi. Of course, at the bottom it would say "Rickey Wins Again!"

Gotta get a screen shot of the appropriate moment on the commercial though. It's funny, every time I watch CC pitch they show the commercial in between every inning. I love that commercial!

Brad, are those Diamond cards nice in hand? I pulled a couple of those dig cards or whatever, but I haven't used them. Has anybody seen the little booklet that has the 60 cards? There is a page with Rickey in it. I've been meaning to snag a pic and see if anybody wants it, but they're pretty easy to obtain so you might all have them, or you all might not know the book exists. Or you might have no interest in it. Does anybody have any idea what I'm talking about? I tried to find one on ebay, but no luck.

All those banners and A&G images are damn sweet! I am jealous that I don't have the time to dig up an image I'd want. I suck. Especially when people are offering to do it for free. Oh well.

The diamond cards are nice. I have the regular in hand. Thicker than I thought they'd be. I saw that Black Diamond too and almost sprung for the high BIN, but couldn't pull the trigger. I DID however pull the trigger on a few other NICE cards recently...I'll send pics in a week or so when they all arrive.

Ryan, if you've got extras of those books, I'd like one.

The diamond cards are really nice, definitely better than I was expecting. I got the black for $40 delivered via a best offer, which I thought was pretty good.

Ryan, I also have no idea what books you're talking about, lol! But, I did pick up another cars for you today. It is a G/U #35/ and has a picture if the Red Sox #35 jersey that was used on the back.

I did ask the guy for a minor change to my banner and he obliged. The signature was a sweet add by him but I asked if he could change to what I consider Rickey's real signature. I love it!

I saw that too. Very impressive! I thought about sending cards in for grading, but decided against it as I wouldn't be happy with a low grade and would want a 10. This would be very costly and not really what I'm interested in anyway.

On another note I believe I just got sniped. Was watching the 99 Platinum and placed a bid with little over minute left. I figured this way there was plenty of timeto be outbid as I really didn't have the money for it and figured this was a good out so I wouldn't have to rationalize this with Kristin. So I'm not really mad I was outbid, but I refreshed with 2 seconds left and I was still high bidder. I clicked refresh once more to view the card I thought I had won only to see 2 bids at the same time (1 second left). Annoying as I wanted this crossed off my list and it's not even a Rickey collector (as far as I can tell).

+1!

While not a fan, I wouldn't mind owning a PSA 10 of a card if it's the only one in the world. This guy has several like that, and it amazes me. Some of them, like the AS Game inserts, I can understand. But 1987 K-MART RICKEY HENDERSON ? Seems like there would be more than one 10 out there, doesn't it? Maybe the centering was off on most of them or something? They just seem so glossy and minty to me.

So Irene cut my vacation short in the outer banks last week but what she did do for me was knock the power out at my office for the last two days. So I have been hanging out at the house with the kids. I decided to finally take some pics of the Rickey room while the kids are napping.

This is the main wall in our study. I got most of this stuff in person or from MOS. The only thing that isn't real is the batting glove. I bought it off ebay just cause it was the same style he used.

This is my bookshelf the wife has allowed me to use for my Rickey/skins stuff.

My two bats that hang over the doorway.

WoW, the main wall in your study blows my entire collection away! All I gots are these pieces of cardboard and tiny slivers of bats and jerseys. manoman.

Good idea with the batting glove. I bet you saved a buck or two.

Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing. It's awesome that you got two days off, and really super awesome that Irene didn't mess with your Rickey stuff!!

In case any of you Ricky collectors look for obscure cameos, I got this TTM back today and just noticed who's sliding into second. (Looks like Rickey was safe as I don't even see the ball in the picture!)

Wow, that wall with the jersey, glove, hat, cleats, and base is a VERY cool display. Very clean and well done. I'm also glad Irene didn't get you too bad. We've had terrible flooding around us, but I've somehow managed to keep power and stay dry. My Rickeys are in the upstairs bedroom just in case. :)

Speaking of which...I went on a mini-binge these past two weeks:

2010 Topps Sterling Gold #159 (3/5)
and three 2010 Leaf Cuts (his solo 15/45, with Hank Aaron (5/9) - VERY COOL, and with Enos Slaughter (6/10) - also very cool)

Now my budget is blown, so everyone can snipe me on auctions for a while. :(

Love the office/room. I plan on doing something similar but have no game-used items. If I had an auto'd jersey I would frame it, but I wear my jerseys otherwise I would frame one. I do have a couple bats I will get signed next time I go to Cooperstown.

Hmmm....I'm tough to please typically, and I'm not normally a fan of slabbed cards (I know I'm probably in the minority on that). The autos are on a thick piece of white board which is raised up against the black background, so there is a depth to them that doesn't always come across in the pics. I am especially fond of the dual autos because they are low serial number, and because Slaughter is deceased and Aaron is, well,....Hank Aaron. I don't think I even owned a Hank Aaron card before this other than a 1987 KMart MVP or something silly like that. Based on how I've been getting outbid recently, I was pretty confident that someone would go over me on these, but the bids held up to my surprise. Maybe I caught the heavy spenders while they were on vacation in Brazil with no blackberry service :). Anyway, my final assessment is that the Leaf Cuts, while trying something slightly different somehow still look home-made to me - like someone made them with an exacto knife in their basement. But again, I'm tough to please. Don't let this sway you from buying.

On a different note...I had this lot that I also won: [ebay:ho5scsuv]120764518191[/ebay:ho5scsuv] which is CLEARLY NOT A POSTER!! Grrr! It is clearly a page cut out of a magazine. I am going to contact the seller and ask him WTF....I was afraid this would be the case. So, elation of the other cards followed by disappointment with this. Oh well, can't win them all.

That's sad, looks like with all those bids, everybody thought it was a poster. Well, the seller does call it a poster a couple times, so I guess that adds to the confusion. ::facepalm:: I'm sure you'll be able to get your money back easily due to the item not being as described. You might be out the shipping though.

Yep, I've had those East End Publishing books before and they are definitely not a "poster". Now there were some posters that came in books, but the pages were not stapled together like the East End Publishing.

The 1990 Modern Publishing MLB Poster Book had a perforation to tear out the poster.

The 1990 Mallard Press Coloring Book Posters were actually loose within the cover.

Doesn't look like Henderson made it into either of these issues
