Wow, that wall with the jersey, glove, hat, cleats, and base is a VERY cool display. Very clean and well done. I'm also glad Irene didn't get you too bad. We've had terrible flooding around us, but I've somehow managed to keep power and stay dry. My Rickeys are in the upstairs bedroom just in case.

Speaking of which...I went on a mini-binge these past two weeks:

2010 Topps Sterling Gold #159 (3/5)
and three 2010 Leaf Cuts (his solo 15/45, with Hank Aaron (5/9) - VERY COOL, and with Enos Slaughter (6/10) - also very cool)

Now my budget is blown, so everyone can snipe me on auctions for a while.

1984-91 Topps Pewter Bonuses #8 Rickey Henderson '91

Do any of you know anything about this card/item? I looked on Davids mega site but i don't see it listed. I would really like to see a picture of it so I know what i am looking for.

It looks exactly like the 1991 Topps Gallery of Champions, only made of pewter. Since it's pewter, it's much heavier than the aluminum/silver/bronze.

That one guy kept listing his for like $270 and I felt so stupid for letting mine go for $20...

Don't feel bad Ryan, that guy is crazy!! I'd say $30ish would be about right.

I hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend. I spent it with a plumber trynig to figure out why water was leaking out underneath my family room floor. Needless to say, I had to rip it up...and then read the fine print of my homeowners insurance to find that it doesn't cover things like that. ARRGGGH! :x Well, at least my wife didn't have the baby right in the middle of it, and at least I got to have several beers while doing it. Ya gotta look on the bright side, right? :shock:

Anyway, to close the loop on a few things:
#1 Someone got that 91 Topps Pewter on ebay for under $4 ppd. Good work if it was one of you.
#2 That seller did refund some of my purchase, but also sent me somewhat of a nasty-gram. If anyo9ne is interested, I'd recommend buying the whole "poster" book for $4ppd here:

#3 I added to my recently-started-but-already-awesome 2010 Leaf Cut Signature collection. I just picked up the Satn Musial/Rickey card (#2 of 10). WOOT :!: I now have the Rickey stand-alone (/45), Hank Aaron (/9), Enos Slaughter (/10) and Musial (/10). I think I just need the Hal Newhouser and Catfish Hunter combos to complete the Rickey mini-set. Is anyone aware of other Rickeys in that set?

Relaxing? :lol: I went camping. :| I hate camping. What was my favorite part? Trying to keep a terrible 2 year old from running off a cliff? The burnt dinner or the burnt breakfast? Sleeping on the ground with no air matress and no pillow? I just couldn't decide. Setting up the whole mess just to take it back down the next day was pretty awesome, almost as great as loading up the car and unloading it the next day. I don't think that camping for 2 nights would have made it more worth it though. *Sigh*

Really I think it's a practice makes perfect thing, and we have no practice.

I did have one enjoyable experience. I like to write stuff, and drink rum and coke, and I found this spot where I could do both quite nicely. The girls were supposed to be taking a nap, but they didn't, so I only got about a half an hour of peace, but it was cool...

The best part, way out in the wilderness I had no cell phone signal, but sitting on that giant rock I got some. So I got to find out that CC won! So that was exciting. Still hated to miss the game though, but you know, whenever CC is pitching I can't watch it for one reason or another.

Glad you got the cards. I have seen this guys stuff, and it is awesome. Always afraid to ask what it would cost. Very cool piece.

Sometime I'll post something worthwhile. Work has been crazy busy, which is good, but no free time sucks! Going to get some shelves or possibly have a couple buddies help me make something for my collection. If I ever get my other 2 bats signed, I have a sweet case in mind.

I'm up for another auto, but price will probably be high. I don't like the jumbo swatches unless they have a patch. Why no letters for HENDERSON? On card would be better, but anything is good for me.

As a side note to Rickey conversations, my baby daughter was born yesterday. Meet Alyssa Taylor Leff. Born at 6:52pm on 9-14-2011 weighing in at 8lbs 2oz, measuring 21 inches long. Mommy, baby, and proud daddy are all doing well. Can't wait to tell her the legend of the most exciting baseball player that ever roamed the planet.

I thought i would post this on the forum maybe someone else knows the situation or what to do. Months ago i purchased a spot in a box break from (big-boy-breaks-2011) and this person mysteriously vanished as a user on eBay. From the looks of it, he was up and running up until August. Box breaks were posted on ustream as well. I am also apparently not the only one who got screwed; because my payment was more than 45 days out i am screwed and can't get a refund.

Any help?


also, if you are big-boy-breaks-2011 and you are reading this please make this right...if you are running on hard times go ahead and let me know, refund my money, no hard feelings.
