Thanks for the pic and the sort of explanation. I am still struggling to understand why somebody would not want anybody to see a picture of a card they own, but that's cool.

I'm gonna use photoshop to fix those marks, and a friend of mine is really good at replicating baseball cards. Soon, there will be thousands of copies and the card will be worthless! Muahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa. aaaa. aaa. aa.

I'm super serious, I've done it before.
IMG00257.jpg

"Yeah sucka, you thought your Napolean hair card was a 1/1, but I've got one right here...."

That really happened, the guy who pulled it showed up on Topps MB but refused to show a picture because he thought we would somehow replicate the card. Luckily there was a great big picture of it on the sell sheet, so I was still able to replicate it. Muahahahahaaa!

Good for you, don't think it would be too hard to fill in the holes...

Yes there is a green, purple, and red version. I had seen a checklist of the Protoypes above #130 previously, but don't recall where. I'll try to find it.

Wow!!! Please PLEASE shoot me a PM if you can find it. I really am anxious to see who has what. I've personally been asked quite a few times if _______ player has a Crusade prototype, and I've only seen a small handful, so usually, I'm of no help.

With MS Paint? Hell yeah it will! ;)

I was just messing with you, I'm not even going to bother printing up a silly paper version of it to take a similar pic. I appreciate you showing the card, thank you!

While packing up my cards for the move, I did come across some doubles, so I looked thru them. I think I have an extra 97 Certified Mirror Red. Not 100% sure, but if someone is looking for one, I think I have one to spare.

So I was looking to see if McFarlane Cooperstown Series 9 was out and I could find who was in it. Hoping for another Rickey. I didn't see anything listed, so I looked for the "custom" to see who it actually was. Sosa & Helton from 2004. Then I got to thinking, did Rickey face the Rockies while playing with the A's. Yes he did. Friday June 26, 1998. Rickey reached base 2 times, both being singles and he had 2 steals. So Helton would actually be holding him on like is portrayed in the poses. So if I can get ahold of one of these sets, I'll head to Hobby Lobby and get some model paint and paint up a Rickey! This may be harder than I'm thinking, but I should be able to make it look half-way decent. Only thing I haven't decided is if I want it to be realistic and use an A's road jersey or have it look like the one on Brad's blog and use home jersey. Suggestions?

It appears that a number of additional Crusade cards were produced by Donruss for future 1998 and '99 baseball card sets, but were never released due to the bankruptcy of Pinnacle Brands. Many of these cards were "base" Crusade cards of players who appeared in the "Call to Arms" subset, and vice versa.
Unlike the cards that were inserted into packs, all cards from the "Call to Arms" subset are sequentially-numbered. None of the cards, however, are serial-numbered.
Green, Purple and Red cards are known to exist for some players.

Some good conversations recently. These Sportkings cards are driving me nuts. Why are they going for so much money? I don't get it...its almost like the owner of Sportkings is buying them up to drive up the price and awareness. Does anyone actually know...do they at least claim the material swatches were actually worn by the player in a game, or did they just buy a Yankees or A's jersey from Sports Authority and cut it up?

Anyway, here's my current doubles list (2003 - present) in case anyone is interested in a trade:

Yes, they do in fact state the memorabilia in these cards are authentic, game-used pieces worn in an official game.

As far as SK prices driving you nuts...perhaps certain people appreciate the authenticity of game-used memorabilia in SK that's questionable with other companies.

Oh yeah, they are famous for making sure their GU stuff is real. I'll give them that. They have a lot of fans. I don't understand it at all.

Wouldn't you be so stoked to pull that? Dog sled racer, but guaranteed to be 100% authentic.

And they are getting better, I checked out the 2012 Rickeys and they aren't too shabby. It's a step up from stuff like this:

$(KGrHqR,!iIE-qJup(psBPrnvY(S,g~~60_58.JPG

I mean, really that's just a decorated piece of cardboard holding a chunk of GU jersey. IMO, people are buying the card not the jersey. Otherwise they would just sell stuff like this:

FakePatchProject4-1.jpg

I might have to dig up that genuine piece of Shannon Stewart jersey and make a Sport Kings custom!

So... does anybody have a 2004 SP Game Used Patch HOF Numbers RH #/25? I would really like to see some pictures if possible... Mine looks like this:

toogood2Btrue.jpg

I had this one, I think I traded it... found it in a big pic of a bunch of dupes and cropped it and blew it up, so it's a pretty crappy pic...

DSC00535b.jpg

I was hoping to put together a pic like this one from McFly...

mcflyhoard.jpg

Because I know some of these 04 SPs have some nice patches...... and as it is, mine looks too good to be true.

Since it is called "Hall of Fame Numbers", yours does look a little sketchy as a number patch....but it wouldn't surprise me if they messed it up at the factory. If anyone has an extra, I'd be willing to trade. :)

Love the Mets colors and glacier twill they use for letters and numbers.

How stoked would you be to pull this 100% guaranteed to be authentic piece of memorabilia card?

It recently sold for nearly $900!

I understand that you and others don't understand this product. I also understand you like to pick out a few cards to try to help prove your point. But the fact is that there are people that like to collect unquestionably authentic, game-used memorabilia cards from an honorable company, and they're willing to pay good money to do so.

Oh, they've got their niche to be sure. One thing I can say when comparing the two cards, I have heard of Annika Sorenstam. If you want to get a huge piece of GU for her, there's only one place to get it, I'm sure. As I said at the very beginning of the SK discussion, I completely understand that the cards appeal to some people, I was merely explaining why they don't appeal to me. I think I mentioned how impressive your collection is, and how much I enjoyed looking at it, but maybe not. Let me express those things now. Despite being blown away by the awesomeness of the cards you have collected, I still have no desire to collect SK cards. They don't appeal to me personally. The Rickey/Windfield dual looks nice, I have to hand them that.

Please don't take offense about my dislike for cards without logos. It really has nothing to do with SK or Dr Price or anything. At the beginning of the discussion I mentioned how I didn't like how Panini was ruining my favorite brands by releasing logoless cards and putting no effort into disguising their lack of proper licensing.

You have an awesome collection.

Thanks for the pics Lef!

Thanks for your kindness. You instantly had me thinking it was fake! I have always felt it was real, it is perfect and looks untampered with. Also, right after I won this won, I lost his little brother that had more of the red stitches... I think. It might have been a different card though, I wanted it because it matched up with this one.

After researching the set though, it looks like the "Numbers" has more to do with stats (that got the player into the HOF) than the patch on the card...

Awesome card! Yankees uni, Yankees patch... "Houston Astros"

!B9ODMmQ!Wk~$(KGrHqIOKogEy+jC)otJBM5I0i3)qQ~~0_35.JPG

Lots of the patches do look like they came from number patches, but there are plenty of other examples...

I also noticed 04 SP had another set called "Significant Numbers" for less HOF worthy people? I dunno, it was a Roger Clemens card, let the debate begin... ;)
