The player that I know he had a relationship with was an Indian. I know nothing about Brady Anderson.

I think it is interesting that ESPN and CNNSI don't have this on their websites. Actually I'm kind of glad they don't since this is more of a personal issue for him. I'm curious as to when we will start hearing about it on the major sports sites and networks though since it is a delicate issue, plus it is only rumor at this point. I'm sure once it is covered, they will rehash all the history of Magic Johnson and how AIDS/HIV affects sports.

Exactly! If you had AIDS....would you want it announced to the world?

I'd prefer not to hear it on ESPN. Some things are personal and should be treated as such. I stand by my opinion that the media is far too involved with the personal lives of athletes these days. And most of it, if not all of it, is negative. I didn't hear a whole lot on Tigers Woods son being born....but I bet we get a nauseating dose of "Alomar has AIDS".

That sucks for Robbie I always really enjoyed watching him play both at the plate and in the field. He was one of those players who could make an unbelievable play at anytime. I wish him the best. Also I have no idea if he is gay or not but if he does come out his cards prices will really go up.

Well its sad to hear this news. However, look at Magic Johnson. He's had HIV for years and is still going strong. Perhaps Robbie can do the same.

I have several very good friends who play MLB. It was well known that Robbie was at least bi-sexual and many felt he was a homosexual covering up his private life by dating beards (ie mary pierce). There is a well known story amongst players that he had an affair with one of his teammates in cleveland and when that went bad the other player was promptly shipped out of town. I am very sad for Alomar.

I heard rumors also about Robbie and a Ex Indian,I have a good guess who that person is.I remember seeing Alomar and other Indians in the Flats after games.

The question is this: does he have AIDS or HIV? If he has full blown AIDS, he's in for a short and less than awesome time. If it is still HIV, he could have a relatively healthy life ala Magic Johnson.

On another note, if he is gay he should come out. He'd be a gay hero as the first major baseball player to come out. Billy Bean came out (and wrote a very interesting book about it) but he doesn't have nearly the impact that Roberto Alomar would. While steroids is destroying baseball's rep it would be good to get the homosexual stigma out of the way too. It is sad when basketball beats you to the punch.

Same. This and the South Park Episode where they find the cure for Aids.

But, she is not just sure he has aids, she is HIV positive (bad joke)

How can someone write that they would "lose respect for him" if this story was true?

Do you really think he wants AIDS?

I don't even know how people abandoned ship on him after the spitting incident. We have seen far worse happen on the field.

I feel bad for Robbie. My opinion of him hasn't changed at all. I sort of respect him more.

What I'm referring to is that he forced a woman to have unprotected sex with him. If he has HIV/AIDS - then yes, I definitely will lose respect for him for endangering a woman's life. I wouldn't have lost any respect for him if he is HIV positive or full blown AIDS, but by insisting on having unprotected sex - that is just like murder in my eyes.

Uhm....I think it has to do with the allegation that he either hid or refused to acknowledge his HIV status with his girlfriend.

Seriously....does anyone bother to read and comprehend anymore?
