Pretty interesting. I know some people think Jesus will get 400 at bats this year. I personally think it MIGHT be half that. If the Yankees do sign Russ, it will max out at 200 in my opinion.

So who will they use Montero to acquire then?

Hmmm

I dont see Russ staying in NY too long given his problems last season with conditioning and attitude.

He was horrid for most of the season and I dont see the Yanks putting up with it if he doesnt work to change his ways

If the yankees sign Martin i can see them trading Montero for greinke and not signing Lee and going after Crawford

This is about the only thing that can bring Martin's cards back to where they were during the crazy hype

Wow. 1st I've heard of this. Bummer. To save my extensive 05 BDP or move it...hmm. Always afraid of this day. When moving a collection, best to piece it out or all in one?

They probably keep Martin this year and maybe next year until Austin Romine is ready to take over behind the plate.

Well that really sucks. I could have traded Jesus Montero in my fantasy baseball league. Reason I didn't was the fact he would be hitting in the Yanks line-up. If he goes to KC his value will go way down. Damn Yankees why can't you just trust your farm system. Went from having the #1 catching prospect to well..... ::facepalm::

I would've thought the opposite and traded him if he stayed in NY

Everyone pretty much knows he's probably going to be traded to acquire a piece.

I'd still keep Montero I think his ceiling is huge

They almost got him for francisco cervelli. What makes you think he could block Jesus if cervelli isn't going to?

Is anyone scared of their Jesus Montero stash right now? I would think anyone with a big stash must be nervous with all these trade rumors swirling...if he leaves NY, his stock drops in a big way.

It hasn't happened yet and unless Martin somehow de-ages 5 years he's not going to block Jesus.

I am not saying he will be blocked for multiple years. But he would be "blocked" from getting full time at bats that the NY newspapers have been writing about for weeks.

Russ Martin is a low cost (Francisco Cervelli) backup option and insurance policy.

If Montero hits this spring, Montero starts this spring.

Russ Martin will not be standing in anyone's way.

2010 .248/.347/.332 with 5 homers and 26 RBI

If that scares you into selling Montero, you didn't really believe in him in the first place.

Oh, and he's not on the Yankees yet. This board scares easily.

My question was more in regard to the possibility of Montero being traded for Greinke or another such player than it was about him being blocked by Martin. I don't have much Montero myself, just wondering how those of you who are stocked up feel.

Well, Montero won't be traded for Greinke because of Greinke's no trade clause.

Actually, Greinke said he would waive it if it meant he would go to a team like the Yankees. This reported on ESPN sometime during the last week or so.
