Good morning,
On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh ...
"On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918, at eleven it all ended. There is stillness all around. Now the guns have ceased their chatter" This is a poem about the end of World War I. The poem describes the end of the war and the stillness that followed. It also describes the bravery of the soldiers who fought in the war and the mourning of those who lost their comrades. The poem is about Armistice Day, which was celebrated on November 11th every year in England, and now its celebrated as Veterans Day in the
United States.
