Probably got from a seller who doesn't want to deal with Ebay himself or bought a collection at the Nationals, perhaps?

Still damn nice cards he's selling!

Interesting idea to put a Manning Contenders RC in a PSA/DNA slab. Hopefully the folks dropping cash realize the 8 is the auto grade.

That is exactly what I thought as soon as I saw that. He is definitely going to be duping some unfamiliar people. That is such a nice looking card, and I really think the PSA slab looks better than BGS

Wait so the Manning auto isn't a part of the set? It is just his rookie card that is auto'd IP?

What am I missing here, how is he duping people?

The Manning auto is part of the '98 Contenders set. It was a run of 200. The card in question is in a PSA/DNA slab and the grade on the slab is an autograph grade. If someone doesn't know what they are doing they are going to see the card in the slab and assume the 8 is the grade of the card.

ah okay, but isn't a grade of an 8 not that good anyway? for a card i mean? wouldn't it be more devious if the auto was graded 10 or even a 9?

i thought raws and PSA 8's or BGS 9's were generally the same

The card will sell for a ton because of the strong autograph. Personally I am surprised to see the sig a PSA/DNA 8. It is actually as strong of a sig as I have seen on that card and would probably check out a BGS 10 (9 at the very least). As far as the 8 grade it all depends on what the condition of the card is at. The '98 Contenders is an extremely condition sensitive card and most of them have the same nicks on the same spots.

My guess is that the buyer is going to crack it and either submit the card to BGS or have the card in a PSA slab. I have not checked pop reports on that card in awhile but an 8.5 is a really good grade on that card. A BGS 9 with a strong sig could easily hit $4K in my opinion. The price between that card in an 8 and 9 grade is pretty substantial.
