Throughout this year, the running joke in my store has been those "sapphire" rookie reprints topps has put in many of their products, especially the ones which are chrome reprints of modern chrome cards.

Well it just doesn't get better than what they put in this year's sterling!

There's a sapphire rookie reprint of Puig.

Yes, a reprint of a card which just came out a couple of months ago!

But wait, there's more!

Because it's a reprint of a true rookie card which was issued this year, the reprint can ALSO be considered a rookie card!!!!!!

A reprint of a rookie card which is actually a rookie card!!!!!!

The traditional definition of a "rookie card" has been horribly corrupted since the introduction of MLBPA's arbitrary RC rule. I still don't understand why ANYONE recognizes the MLBPA's self-imposed authority over any part of the hobby.

For the past few years, they've reprinted rookie cards from both baseball and football and undoubtedly many many collectors have been taken or fooled thinking they real.

Granted no one is going to think their Hank Arron Sapphire reprint is a real rookie card, but what about the verlander? Or Kemp or manning or Harper or lincy etc etc etc etc.

A couple of years ago they issued those bc Pujols and ichiro rookie reprints and yes, people asked me if these are rookies.

Comical to us because we know but most wouldn't.

I just don't understand how XXXX like this gets approved. Someone actually thinks this is a good idea!

Apparently there's an autograph version of this too.

So that's an autograph rookie card reprint of a non autographed rookie card!
