So I win two ten card sets and they arrive in a PWE so I am already a little concerned. I open it up and one set is in a sealed wrapper and seems fine. The other was opened and the cards are completely unprotected with no sleeves. They are however, kept together by small sticky notes; one wrapped around the top of the cards and the other around the bottom! Unsurprisingly, the corners are dinged though I can't say if it happened in transit. Is this a more common practice than I realize?

never received any small lots like that, but I"m not surprised.

Everyone is smart on how to package it if it's a card or two. Get to 10-20 card lots or sets, it's rare to find anyone who isn't stupid on how to properly package a 10+ lot or set.

I'm curious about your seller with the sticky notes - looking at their sales history, do they sell a lot of cards or is it mostly crap&trash sales with a rare card sale? I try to stay away from sellers who specialize in c&t because I figure if they sell lots of cards, they _should_ know what they are doing in shipping a card.

I don't think she sells many cards. I sent her a note explaining the problem with shipping that way and she would probably encounter future problems. She thanked me for pointing out the problems with her shipping methods and refunded the full amount, which wasn't much to begin with. I mostly wanted the cards for the scans so I wasn't that put out.
