This is probably a dumb question, but where do all these missing hits go????
Do they become extra hits in other boxes or are topps employees removing the hits intentionally aka stealing them???

As to another point, what is stopping anyone from just writing Topps and telling them they were shorted hits? It doesn't sound like he had to do anything other than just complain or write them. If I were them, I'd need to have all sorts of paper trail to prove this actually happened. Not saying the story is false but what is stopping anyone from saying they were shorted?
Nothing as a matter of fact they occasionally have to "ban" people from sending in "proof" for missing hits who do it all the time. People abuse this and I have literally seen it with my own eyes at my local shop.
Isn't that why Topps changed their policy a few years ago to require collectors to scan or send in receipt for product purchase, the UPC symbol from the box, and sometimes even pack wrappers in order to get a missing hit or damaged hit replacement sent to them?
Doesn't UD put like serial numbers or some sort of code on the back of cards now? I don't know very much about it but could we come to a day where basically packs are monitored and tracked? Sounds a little much IMO but it's worth the question.But in the end what does that stop? Does it stop someone from claiming they didnt get a hit when they did? No. Does it stop people from destroying hits?No. All it really does it make sure the box isnt stolen. Which did not address the problem at all. It does screw up the people buying singles on ebay and returning them because they are not gem mint 10's but all they have to do is buy a box and get a receipt.

Yea, not saying it's a good idea... think it's way overboard.If it was not a machine error this may be possible. But in order to do what you suggest it would cost a lot of cash to reform these machines which would track what card went were.
I'd like to see the auto's he did pull as well...Can't wait to see what they send him.

That wasn't my point - I just have an interest in what was pulled.Yeah, it doesn't matter to me what autographs he did pull. He could have pulled a 1/1 Babe Ruth cut autograph but that doesn't mean he should be screwed on the other auto's he is supposed to get.

Lets all be honest... if a 1/1 Babe Ruth cut auto was pulled, I don't think this thread would of been created, period.
Good hypothetical though ::facepalm::
