I've read and asked and I can't get a real grasp of COMC. I have no idea what the clear cut fee structure is-from submission to sale to cash out

I use it to buy lots here and there.

.25 per card...takes a month to get the cards up and ready for sale. But it looks like they take an additional .25 when the card sells. .50 per card is a bit much, especially for 1.00 cards.

I don't think anyone can quickly and easily explain the COMC fee structure haha

I had someone grab a $.50 card for me a couple days ago, I wonder what their take on that was...

As a buyer, there's no need to pay the extra .25 if you're not having it shipped. It's in account settings somewhere.

The fees (whatever they are) must be somewhat reasonable. If they werent the site wouldnt have as much product.

They are very reasonable. However it is a complicated fee structure to understand and you need to have lots of patience to make money on that site.

IMO I just love selling off inserts and low end stuff and buying Yankees cards. Its basically like I'm trading up a bunch of cards for a bunch of nicer Yankee cards :)

Hi, Moe here...We know our fee structure seems a little daunting when you first see it, but it's not that bad, really.

When you use our basic, 1-month service, we charge $0.25/card as a processing fee - that includes scanning, identification, everything necessary to get the card on the website. This fee is paid for by the card seller.

When your card sells, we charge a $0.25/card S&H fee. This includes pulling the card from the warehouse, preparing it for shipping, etc, etc - this is paid by the card buyer.

So, there are $0.25 fees happening on a card twice, but it's paid on 2 different occasions, and by 2 different people.

If you have any other questions, please let me know! I'm usually around :)

Moe-

I have tons of inserts I'm thinking about sending in. Two questions if you dot mind:

1. If they don't sell in the first month, am I charged an additional .25?

2. Let's say I submit 100 ginter black border mini. I price them at 1.00 and they all sell. Could you run down my fees? From submission to cash out?

Thanks! Looking forward to learning more and maybe using your site

HI! You can ask as many questions as you like; it's all good!

1) We only charge an initial processing fee of $0.25/card, to get the cards on the website. Once they're live, they stay there until they're sold or you decide to pull them off. After 90 days, we do charge a $0.01/card storage fee, for any cards in your portfolio that are priced at $0.75 or less. But, like I said, that's after 90 days of being on the website, so the key is to get your cards sold before that. :)

2) First of all, you could probably charge more than $1.00/ea for A&G Black Border minis, as even the commons book above that. But for your example, let's say $1.00/card:

100 cards @ $0.25/card = $25 of processing fees. Please note these fees need to be in your COMC account before we can start processing them. When your cards are received by us, you'll get an email telling you that we have your cards, and you'll get an estimate of how much it will cost to process the cards.

Selling 100 cards @ $1.00/each = $100.00 of COMC Store Credit.

Now, if you wanted to buy some cards on COMC, you would have $100 to spend. If you wanted to send in more A&G Black Border minis (as you seem to have found some success there) you could use this Store Credit you have to put towards those processing fees.

If you wanted to cash out, then we do have a 20% cash out fee. Since your cashout amount is under $250, there'd be extra $1 we have to charge, so you would receive $79 back via Paypal. If you wanted us to send you a check, you could skip that $1 fee, but you'd have to wait for the check to arrive in the mail.

So, that's a general idea of how it would work, from start to finish...right now, we're offering a special discount for 1st time sellers, wherein we offer a $20 discount on your first batch of cards. So, that first box of 100 A&G Black Border minis would only cost you $5.00 of processing fees. Like I say, it's for your first transaction only - a lot of sellers liked it, as it gave them the opportunity to "test drive" our services.

I hope this helps, and let me know what else I can do to help out. Thanks!

That's exactly how I view it. I sent in a bunch of random oddballs, Japanese cards and minor league stuff and picked up a ton of cards for my player collections. I was only out of pocket for my initial submission. Sales from the first 80 cards covered subsequent submissions and shipments of cards back to me.

While their partnership with Beckett is mostly a good thing, it also cripples them when it comes to cards out of the mainstream. I'd love to sell more minor league and foreign cards, but Beckett has no interest in those markets, so COMC has no checklists to work with. They have listed a few cards from checklists I sent them, but subsequent similar requests were discouraged and I ended up getting a couple dozen cards returned in my last batch. Sadly my sales have trickled to almost nothing for the remaining stuff in my inventory, so I'll probably not be submitting anymore.

It's an offer we've had for quite some time...the current coupon cards have an expiry date of 12/31/2013 and I haven't seen any new ones printed up. So, there's a chance this offer may be going away soon.

And, if you don't have a coupon, which we usually give away at cards shows and such, just make a note on your submission slip that you're sending in your first batch and you would like the "1st time sellers discount". It's that easy.

Hi Moe, a quick question I have not seen asked or answered anywhere.. If I send in 500 cards, sell 250 of them, and 6 months later want the rest shipped back to me, what do I pay? Do I have to pay base shipping fees plus $.25 per card? Or something else?

That's pretty much correct; you'd be charged the $0.25/card S&H fee to have the cards mailed back - this helps cover the retrieval and packaging of your cards, to prepare them for shipping.

Another option, rather than dealing with that, would be to have a "port sale" - you could sell off a portion of, or even your whole portfolio, to another COMC seller. You may not get the full value of the port, but it would be quicker and easier than having all those cards shipped back to you.
