Well, the cashout is one of several options I listed in the previous comment. You could buy cards on COMC with your Store Credit, or you can submit more cards to the website.

I actually failed to mention another option: you can use your credit to but Gift Certificates, so you can buy cards or card supplies via other websites. It's up to you. :)

20 cents on the dollar is not that bad considering how much work you get to avoid versus selling everything yourself.

Let me put it this way:

You send in 5000 Cards that sell for $1 each
COMC is charging 25 cents per card=$1250
So you are left with $3750
Then they are going to charge you another $750!!!
Thats a total of $2000 or 40%
Then they charge the buyers another 25 cents per card and shipping
They just made $3250!!! At first i thought it was a site dedicated to collectors but now i can see it is just dedicated to loading someones pockets. Thankfully i am only a buyer. I feel really sorry for the collectors that are being robbed by these guys.

Those fees are outrageous.

Well considering there are so many ways around the 20% cash out fee it's financially irresponsible to actually go that route, and they make that very clear. They'd rather you buy stuff on the site or get a gift card, but if you desperately want cash you have to pay for it. It's really not that bad if you take the simple steps of avoiding the cash out fee

IMO it is the biggest waste of money to cashout. Why not buy one or two very high end cards and flip them? Or buy gift certificates to BO and buy supplies and boxes?

This site is made for collectors not for people who want to sell some cards and run with the cash.

I've learned to just not cash out. Simple as that. Buy cards for my PC or cards to flip on ebay or forums. And with the 20$ off coupon you can send in 80 cards for free (no processing fees) then just continually use some of the credit you build up to keep sending more thus never having to pay directly out of pocket to put more cards up.

I love the site as I am away at college and don't bring cards with me so I can frequently buy and sell on COMC without having the cards in my possession.

+1. They charge you .25 cents per card in the beginning which is totally reasonable to scan house and list all your cards. Then they charge a .25 cent shipping fee which IMO is also very reasonable. However, the .25 cent shipping fee is paid by the buyer I believe. And you can set up your account so that you don't pay the .25 shipping if your in advanced reseller mode I believe.

Unless you are going to show some evidence of how the amount of work they are doing for you is actually significantly less than what they are charging, your statement is what is outrageous. People aren't going to work for free, this is a business.

So in your example you walk away with $3000. Let's compare that to ebay.

You sell 5000 $1 cards and charge $2 shipping.
Let's say that you only have to mail out 2000 packages as you will have some combined shipping in there.

So you have $9,000.
Less shipping costs (this is assuming $0 in supplies cost) = -$3,380
Less ebay fees = -$900
Less paypal fees = ($600 in transaction fees + $261 in fees) -$861

That means you are walking away with $3,859 compared to the $3,000 for COMC.

So for 859 more dollars you have to scan 5000 cards, mail 2000 packages, deal with ~200 NPB, answer ~100 stupid questions, and have to handle ~200 returns due to whatever reason. Do those fees still seem outrageous?

So you are saying that posting $5000 cards should cost $3k? If thats the case then im in the wrong business. Scanning, processing, and listing those cards is not worth that much. Im sure they have templates and have simplified the process dramatically. Kudos to the owners, their get rich quick scheme is working great. I am going to experiment and send them 100 cards and see just how the process actually works.

So you are left with $48750

Lesson here:
The more valuable cards you send in and sell, the cheaper the fee!

HI! You can ask as many questions as you like; it's all good!

1) We only charge an initial processing fee of $0.25/card, to get the cards on the website. Once they're live, they stay there until they're sold or you decide to pull them off. After 90 days, we do charge a $0.01/card storage fee, for any cards in your portfolio that are priced at $0.75 or less. But, like I said, that's after 90 days of being on the website, so the key is to get your cards sold before that. :)

2) First of all, you could probably charge more than $1.00/ea for A&G Black Border minis, as even the commons book above that. But for your example, let's say $1.00/card:

100 cards @ $0.25/card = $25 of processing fees. Please note these fees need to be in your COMC account before we can start processing them. When your cards are received by us, you'll get an email telling you that we have your cards, and you'll get an estimate of how much it will cost to process the cards.

Selling 100 cards @ $1.00/each = $100.00 of COMC Store Credit.

Now, if you wanted to buy some cards on COMC, you would have $100 to spend. If you wanted to send in more A&G Black Border minis (as you seem to have found some success there) you could use this Store Credit you have to put towards those processing fees.

If you wanted to cash out, then we do have a 20% cash out fee. Since your cashout amount is under $250, there'd be extra $1 we have to charge, so you would receive $79 back via Paypal. If you wanted us to send you a check, you could skip that $1 fee, but you'd have to wait for the check to arrive in the mail.

So, that's a general idea of how it would work, from start to finish...right now, we're offering a special discount for 1st time sellers, wherein we offer a $20 discount on your first batch of cards. So, that first box of 100 A&G Black Border minis would only cost you $5.00 of processing fees. Like I say, it's for your first transaction only - a lot of sellers liked it, as it gave them the opportunity to "test drive" our services.

I hope this helps, and let me know what else I can do to help out. Thanks!

The .01/ mo is for cards over .75 not less right?

Yes! Thank you for pointing that out. The monthly storage fee is for cards *over* $0.75, not under...and, that's after they've been on the website for 90 days.

...Mondays, am i right?

Hi! If this is your first batch of cards, don't forget to ask for the "1st time sellers" discount. We offer $20 off the processing fees, for the first box of cards you send us.

We have coupons and such for this, but you can just ask for the discount by writing a note on the submission slip you send in with your cards. Thanks!

The moral of this story is COMC wants you to use any money you make from sales on their site.

And thats not counting supplies. Supplies for shipping 5000 packages would be pretty costly I would think with all the bubble mailers, Top loaders, penny sleeves, ink, tape, labels.

I'm not sure how you still don't understand this. Clearly the process works as COMC is becoming a large part of this hobby. I'd happily let someone keep 800 of my profits for shipping listing sending 5000 packages.

This site is made for collectors not for people who want to sell some cards and run with the cash.

Bingo!

While you can easily buy and relist on COMC, it's not really a place for prospecting or speculating to make big money for your PayPal account. It's niche, as has been mentioned before, is team & player collectors, and set builders.
