I just wanted to state the fact that these fans can no longer bring up the whole Bran Stow incident and hide behind him as an excuse, reason, or pot shot any longer. I am more than open to a discussion on this topic. Like I said we are all smart enough to know it was fueled by the rivalry, and I am not choosing sides just because the victim was wearing Dodger Blue. Just like I didn't take a side when the Bryan Stow incident occurred. It is what it is.

We can all join hands in community as members of the "Violent Fanbase" Nation.

I personally haven't killed anyone today. What's your bodycount as of 10:39 am pst?

Edit to add: there are a*holes in every fan-base.

Being a dick to someone just because they support a rival team shows how much of an absolute lowlife someone really is.
I was at a Seahawks game and we were playing the cardinals. One fan walking the concourse behind us wearing his cards jersey had his nachos slapped out of his hands by a dude wearing a hawks jersey. The rest of us turned and jawed with the slapper idiot and he walked off pissed. Someone slipped the cards fan 10 for a new plate of nachos.
Be a fan. Respect the other team and fans and everything works out better

Much respect for that story.

Has nothing to do with fandom or sports. Nobody kills another person because of a team they support.

Totally agree. I'm sure there was alcohol involved too. There are just as many idiot thugs who are SF Giants fans as there are idiot thugs who are LA Dodgers fans. The whole thing is idiotic, and I hope the two who were arrested and charged are given the maximum penalty as possible.

BTW, I didn't hold the whole Bryan Stow incident against the Dodgers fans.

I have another story to share similar to that. Back in 2010, at the NLCS when the Giants were playing the Phillies, some old man was throwing things at two Phillies fans near us. We called security on the jerk, and the other Giants fans around us yelled at the guy. The two fans were not being obnoxious or doing anything to deserve that behavior. I just don't understand why people can't just all get along.

Have the police release a motive for the fight yet? The fan wearing a Dodger hat points to the rivalry but doesn't conclusively mean the end cause. It's possible the fight was brought on by any number of factors. Having said that, all sports violence has to stop. Absolutely idioct that someone has to fear for their safety because they root for the opposing team.

Man some people in California have issues. I don't think we take our sports that seriously in Texas other than Highschool and College football.

It's to bad poseybuster got banned this thread could have made for Hall of Shame in 2 seconds.

I hear you and no they have not. You are correct when you say it is not conclusive. I lean towards the rivalry, and will change my stance if it is determine differently of course.

It was most likely rivalry related dispute that lead to the fight in which he was stabbed, but nothing conclusive yet. Also, there are a lot of reports saying it was at AT&T Park which isn't true, it was .5 miles away from the stadium and was 1.5 hours after the end of the game.

Aaaaaaaaaand PoseyBuster was the one banned.........
I see what you're trying to do there. Cute.

I understand and agree with the point Alex is making. Too many Giants fans (Lisa, I appreciate what you wrote) slapped a label on Dodgers fans because of what the criminals masquerading as Dodgers fans did to Bryan Stow. Bottom line is (and I've said it here and lots of other places too many times to count), there are scumbag POS in YOUR team's gear that are not indicative of the team's fan base as a whole. The old saying is especially true here - a few bad apples don't ruin the bunch. It's a tragedy what happened to Stow, and if it's proven that team rivalry played a part then it's just as much a tragedy in this case.

I agree with it not being at the park like I said in my initial post. But the natural direction this would take is the rivalry path and that is understandable and no proven. So I agree with your points but waiting for it to all play out. My initial gut is that it is rivalry based. I will retract that if it comes out to be untrue.

Press conference right now. Sounds like a group of guys started picking on the Dodger fans and the two groups went back and forth. The Giants fans had not gone to the game and the Dodger fans left the game in the 8th. Both groups in the fight were coming from bars around 11:30pm. There were two fights, after the first one stopped one group followed the other and another broke out and that's when the tragedy happened. No word on which group decided to continue the fight. This is some sad and stupid crap.

Some people's skins are too thin, even among those who aren't kicking heads or shanking guts.
