So who uses COMC to sell cards? If so, tell me why I should

Note to the psrson who called himself Jester in this thread. If you use the same name in the Topps MCG and then the Diamond Collection game --- the world is still waiting to see your 1st fair offer.

I also want to point out as a seller -- I know we are discussing the fees -- but remember one other factor, once you send the cards to COMC you don't have to handle them anymore. You are not the one to prep packages; go to post offices, put cards in boxes, etc. If your time is worth anything to you, then even if the costs are a bit higher, you've saved time and money.

I usually do 2 shipments a year to COMC -- the 1st one is at the National so I don't have to pay for shipping (I carry those cards on the plane) and the 2nd one is shipped.
These are my stats: I'm very impressed with a site in which in basically a little over a year I have sold between 20 and 25 percent of my inventory. And I'm also continuing to go through my stuff to see if I have more items to send them to expand my inventory.
And the offers I get are interesting; sometimes I just take them, sometimes I laugh them off and sometimes I counter offer. I know other people who have done great with them as well. I'll just piddle along for now and keep adding inventory as I go

Items in Inventory 1,883
Total Book Value $4,064.20
Items w/o Book Price 20
Total Asking Price $1,787.80
Items w/o Asking Price 0
Items Not for Sale 0
Items Ready to Ship 0
Total Sales $384.15
Items Sold 519
Items Purchased 0
Items Added to the Site 2,402

Rich

I could be wrong so if I am sorry. But if this is your totals for the whole time on comc. Going by your current inventory if they are all above the threshold you pay close to 20 dollars a month for them to hold you stuff. 240 a year and you have only sold 385? That is good? Seems like I would want quite a bit more in that time frame to pay someone to hold my stuff for me.

Depends on how many cards he has priced $0.25 or under. They are all free.

Right, that is why i said if they were above that quarter price. Regardless I would still want to be selling more "junk" if I pay someone else to do it.

I'm afraid if that was a joke it sailed right over my head. I'm 'Jester' on COMC, but I don't sell anywhere else and I'm afraid I don't know what the Diamond Collection game is. I pulled my name from Jester's Cap, since my background is in M:TG and other non-sports.

Jester:

The Diamond Collection is this years Topps giveaway in their packs where you redeem cards by typing in codes. Last year it was the Million Card giveaway.

If you use the same name on that site, as you do here --- then my comment is perfectly valid

If someone else uses Jester on the DC site (now MCG site) then I do apologize to you -- however; many people such as myself do tend to use the same names on multiple sites ---- and if you are the same person on both sites, my comment about the fair offers totally stand

Nope, that's a different guy. No worries, though. I'm "Jester" on Blowout, here, and on COMC. I'm "COMC_Jester" on a few sites where that name was already taken (SCF, Sports Card Radio). I'm not currently registered on the DC site or eBay.

If you ever get a chance to talk to the other Jester, tell him he's ruining my reputation! :x

Sorry to bump this but didn't want to start a new thread.

Do any Ebay sellers have thier inventory on COMC also? Then, when an Item is purchased, ship directly from COMC to buyer? I assume its like having items on Beckett.com and Ebay at the same time, correct.

That sounds expensive.

I don't think it's possible to do that. If you sell on COMC you don't have the cards on-hand, they're at COMC in WA. If you sell a card on ebay that COMC has in WA, you would have to ship it from them to you, then ship it to the ebay buyer. That's gonna take a decent amount of time, not to mention the possibility of the same card selling both places at the same time.

I'm assuming you could have COMC ship the card direct from them to the ebay buyer. I don't think I would pay fees on two sites to sell a card.

. Instead of having your cards shipped back to "you" - Change the address setting to the buyers addy. Its actually easy, but it does cost more, to do it that way, $3.25 I believe.

So here's a question: if I have a big lot of bowman 2010 blue parallels (80 cards), would I get more value selling it as a lot on ebay or just selling everything on COMC?

Selling singles should get you more money than selling as a lot...

I've got 270-something cards coming in, shipped today. Can't wait to see this one in person:

I am getting ready to send my 1st shipment of cards to COMC. I am curious how some of you experienced COMC sellers set your prices. Because of the "Make an Offer" feature I guess you have to set your asking price higher than what you ultimately want to sell for. Right?

no, why would you? set your prices to what you want to sell them for. if you don't want offers lower than than, don't accept any offers (you can put in your options that you won't accept any offers of more than 0%)

im not sure why sellers feel the need to put the price @ $10 if they want to sell it for $5. if you want to sell it for $5...put it @ $5 and decline all the offers. or put it @ $6 and accept small offers. no reason to mark it up 100% b/c of buyers who automatically offer 50%
