For me it's very simple. If Topps changes the print run, odds, etc. after people have bought their cases based on info they released then they are to blame. If people order their cases prior to this info and with a bunch of "TBD" in the checklist then you get what you get.

after all the "don't blame topps posts", this is the issue for me. i buy cases of products that look good based on the sales sheet and checklist just like every other product i buy. topps promised one thing and are delivering another. for those that don't know it is called "bait and swich". i would not have purchased under the additional auto checklist that was put forth much after the sales sheet and 25 auto list. i am not ever going to be rich or probably even make money busting topps product, it is a hobby that i like. one more of these kind of crappy screw you decisions and i will have to move on.

i bought a few cases and would feel the exact same if i bought 100 cases or 1 box.

thanks.

Well Put and I agree 100%

Great post!
This is why I don't understand the 'they didnt make you buy.'
No they just tricked me perhaps. Lol.
A lot of people who don't like TC or didnt buy it, then it's easy to say. But as far as box value goes. It is now way down is all regardless of qty. Yet Topps didnt lower the price.
Sold 4x more than last year though.

Again
Why can't we all be friends lol. A little sympathy. And I won't harp on you for buying Razor Retro.

Let me go back to first post and start again.

Bad news for anyone busting TC or trying to pickup singles.
They are tougher than in the past, different from sales sheet, & the value is not holding well at all.

This was the just of it. Info to pass along. While sure there are some
Changes or print increase. This one is a bit much and unusual so heads up

I don't think you can use "bait and switch" if Topps includes a statement about the product being subject to change without notice.

I'm with you too! Before the doubling of the autos, this seemed like a great product with decent odds to pull some great prospect autos, but the odds have been drastically reduced. That along with the 4x increase in production over previous years really lessens the value of this (as is obvious by people selling these below cost). Neither of these were anticipated when I locked in on a couple cases in July after seeing the sell sheet.

I have too much to say, so instead writing a really long post, I'm just going list them.

1) I blame Topps for screwing the consumers. No reason to blame the customers for buying the product.
2) It's fair to expect Topps to put out a solid product. Screwing their customers on the first year with an exclusive license is really stupid from a business perspective.
3) I don't think Topps is being greedy. I think they are being lazy. The most apparent area...Quality Control! I also think it has to do with poor planning. (Althought I have to say Customer Service has been stellar for me).
4) As someone else eluded to, oversaturating the market is not only bad for the customers, it's bad for the LCSs and distributors. Can you imagine ordering all this product only to end up sitting on it or not make much of a profit? Everyone loses in that situation. Including Topps!

It is what it is...I bought a case. I'm not happy about the odds, but I'm still excited to do the break, just as I am with any product I buy. But every card company should always be focused on "value". Every product ANYONE sells should always bring value to the customers in some shape or form. When you lose sight of the customer, you're no better than a crook trying to swindle people out of their hard earned money.

Look at 2010 t206...I saw the price drop on the product faster than anything this year. Sucks for the LCS, retailers, and distributors. And ultimately, it will suck for Topps too.

To me if you don't like it or aren't buying say that but no need to rub in over and again.
We are a community that share common interest and should work together and wish the best for one another. Period.

And I absolutely agree with you on this. But I've come to realize that you find this type of behavior on every forum. I recently bought a new cell phone and it's amazing the similarities I've encountered regarding comments on my cell phone purchase in comparison to the comments I read here on FCB. There always has to be some amount of "I told you so..." and "it's your fault..." BS. Just ignore it...

Good luck with the break. I hope you hit something big so you can rub it in everyone's face.

oh you just had to do it, didn't you
I had 10 cases of that crap, that was the worst I have ever seen, nothing on the sell sheet or checklist included, BUT thankfully case price moved up & we had worst ice storm in history of state and no power for 9 days so had BO sell my cases for me and made $1500, lol

only time I ever sold sealed cases

Thanks for the post. People without any interest in this product commenting making themselves out to look bad makes no sense. Let's play nice...adults.
It does hurt Topps; in fact, I hear plans to scratch T-206 are already in the works as well as possibly Chicle...may not happen but in the talks from what i have been told... While I am just 1 person, I know of a couple dozen breakers that break 4-15 cases of Topps products and I know that they won't buy Chrome next year, or Chicle or T206... Together we have over 100 cases ordered of this...won't be the same and many LCS won't either despite what hype comes...

What other business changes what you buy after you order it?
I can pre-order dvds, shoes, cds, cars, etc, but you generally know what date you will have it & what you are getting.
Again, I do not blame Topps for it all...we bought it in large qty, BUT a warning would be nice or as suggested added value...shoot add some of the base topps insert cards like in past years...have the cards your mom threw out on chrome? sweet! the legends lineage, the world series, etc

WHAT ABOUT MILLION CARD GIVEAWAYS? why not??? they haven't given out the million yet, lol, and they are tweaking next year but still running it

anyways, i know not everyone likes this product or bought it
but you would feel the same if it were something you did

what if THE CUP just came out...and they double the auto checklist by adding scrubs and made it less autos per tin, you would be pissed and lose value, etc etc

Is this going to be another blip on the radar screen or are you all going to hit topps hard
on this to make sure it never happens again?

Three outlets that I think would really hurt topps if you all choose to go that route:

1) Facebook....topps has abandoned their website for FB. Front page bad press on FB
will get topps attention and the hundreds of followers too. If you expect topps to
address your questions write them early in the morning on a weekday, so topps
won't have an excuse to miss them (they don't scroll down a lot).

2) Beckett....yeah yeah we know the website sucks, but there are still a great number of
people who think what is printed on that site is the gospel. Hit the main site message
boards AND the blog site.

3) Message Boards...safe to say FCB is covered, but what about other boards? Blowout
cards is an option. If distributors are having to deal with this, then you know topps
is going to hear about it!

You all know me, I like to scream with products suck and I know that the effort I put into
that makes topps think twice next time when they make other products. Its easy to just
scratch it up as a loss and move on.....how many passes are we going to give topps
this year? Remember they have NO competition this year or next. I have felt for a long
time they feel complacent with draft and rookie type products, is this chrome thing
just the start?

make your voice heard!

well Im glad to say that Topps heard my voice.

Another store owner I know who is also employed by Topps sent out an email to other store owners asking their thoughts and opinions on various Topps topics.

Well my email was so long and so harsh that he called me to thank him for it. And heres the kicker, HE AGREES WITH WHAT I WROTE and will pass it on to Topps with all the other responses he got.

Many dont know this but Topps has a website/ board for Hobby store owners and heres the "best" part.....NO ONE FROM TOPPS EVER RESPONDS TO WHATS POSTED!

Im talking post after post of us dealers asking Topps stuff, telling them our problems with their products, complaing about the release dates/ lateness and lack of products, etc and never a response.

Its so bad that basically no one posts there any longer because its a waste of time and nothing gets accomplished and Topps couldnt give a rats ass about anything.

Awesome first year of exclusive cards ::facepalm::

Early box breaks I'ved seen Topps Chrome is looking very sweet.

I wonder how much crying we would be hearing if Strasburg didn't get hurt and his stuff was still on fire and warm and fuzzy feeling would be all love for Topps Chrome.
