Tape is fine imo so long as it is folded over on one side of it, so that is can easily be removed

Something tells me Eddie's issue with the tape has little to do with being able to reuse the toploader.

tape is best when its the really really cheap kind, you know the stuff that shreds when you pull it off and leaves that
sticky mess. Thats the ticket!

Just put a new piece of tape over it and send it out with the next mailing.

I only use 3M Magic tape. The kind you can write on. I always fold in the back to peel.

Also, you can get team and graded bags so tight they pinch the top of toploaders shut.

I have received a few cards damaged from tape over the years and had a few close calls. If you don't pinch off the top loader then the card can slide up and stick to the tape. When I sell I use new toploaders sealed with team bags shipped in bubble mailers. This provides a clean professional look. My supply costs are low as I can buy a case of 1000 UltraPro Premium top loaders for about $50 dlvd and pick up a box of 25 bubble mailers at Sam's Club for $5 or $6. As a buyer I do not mind getting taped toploaders but the tape does add a minor inconvenience and generally is difficult to remove from the toploader. This will usually render the toploader landfill material.

It costs $2 for a pack of 150 team bags. Stop being cheap.
I've used team bags for about 3 years now (PC and Sales). LOVE THEM!!

I use tape all the time. I however tape fillers (the thick fake cards) around the top loader and usually make sure the tape is taped to them so the card is protected from bending which is my biggest fear. Plus if it is in a soft sleeve and top loader the card doesn't really shift much.
Anyways team bags are hard to find up here. I like them but they are not a staple like everyone says because they are not always at your local shop like top loaders and soft sleeves are. Besides...if you are whining about a scruff top loader why not swap them for one of your own and be done with it?

I am not a big fan of tape, but I can live with it. What bugs me more than this is when you receive a package without any sort of indication as to what the seller's name is or the item number. A paypal shipping label with the DC is fine as I can look up the item by that number, but having to open up multiple won auctions to figure out which one is in my possession is annoying and a waste of my time.

Those big filler cards that are found in sweet spot are really nice to have. I stick them in the team bag with the card.
You would have to be superman to bend that sucker.

No good reason to tape. Use teambags. Tape can scratch the surface when removing the card even if there is a penny sleeve.

I have boxes and boxes of ruined top loaders because of tape. Who really feels right selling someone a new card and then sticking it in a top loader that has top on top of tape? And I certainly don't want my PC top loaders with tape on them.

The worst is getting a nice magnetic case and it being all taped up... Not only are they expensive but they are a pain to get open when certain tapes are used.

i prefer that each seller watches my youtube presentation on how to properly ship my cards before packaging! included in this feature are:

pwe "bad for you bad for me"
dummy cards "2 dummy cards for 1 dummy"
tape "the glue that binds it together pushes us apart"
new top loaders "that card should shine when she's all mine"

Graded Card bags are great for the magnetic holders. Not only do they keep it from getting scratched, but they prevent the holder from opening. For some reason that I just can't understand, team bags (which are smaller) cost more than the graded card bags. Now, if there was only somewhere to get these supplies cheaply... :)

Team bags are fine if they are snug on the top-loader. They are useless if they aren't.

I'd much rather get a taped toploader. I've NEVER had a taped top-loader damage a card (and I'm not talking about just a handful of transactions -- I'm talking thousands). And I've also never damaged a card removing it from a taped top-loader. It isn't that hard to do.

And I'll add one more thing -- it doesn't faze me in the slightest to throw out a taped top-loader. I'm buying the card, not the top-loader.

I generally don't care what the seller does so long as the card arrives in good condition. When I sell, I use NEW toploaders (they're crazy cheap, and it gives me a reason to go to the card shop when I'm low and can't find anything else to buy!), plastic sleeves (obviously), and team bags. I tape the team bags if they can't close on their own over two or three toploaders. I then wrap the team bag in a couple paper towels or a plastic grocery bag and tape that up. This adds little to no significant weight, cards arrive as secure as I can get them on my own without charging $5, and everyone is happy.

Bingo, it is the sellers job to get the card to me safely, end of story. New top loader, team baggie etc... are nice, but in the end it should not effect the feedback left if card arrives safely.
