Kid just continues to impress the heck out me.

Including today he is batting .319, good for 3rd in the league. Yes you read that right, 3rd in the league! Pretty darn good for a 20 year old kid :D :D :D

His stuff is dirt cheap right now. Time to buy. Can't wait to pick up a bunch of his Topps Chrome RC autos for around $30 and watch him win the batting title next year.

No its not...his stuff is where it should be(if not a little high) for a high average powerless middle infielder..as long as the cubs are losing, fans arent going to be shelling out mad dough on the cards...theyll just go to the games, get drunk, and call it a night.

Agreed, a good contact hitter with little power, and in need of more run production. I think his stuff is too much tbh..

Even if the cubs do suck, they are in a large media and castro will get attention if he is the bright spot, Starlins cards will be at a high price. you cant say his cards are high because they really havent been lower yet.

Yeah, 20 year old kids who come up and rank top three in batting for big market teams are a dime a dozen. Plus, there is no chance a great athlete who hits line drives all over the field will ever develop any power.

His cards are at the same price level as when Bowman was released. If anything. Starlin will gain more hobby love.

Cubs have hit rock bottom. This kid will get more pub when he plays a full season and they team gets back to .500. Don't think Jeter was top 3 in batting during his first season. Major market team and a great talent. Can't wait for Topps Chrome.

I love seeing ignorance right in front of me.....He is 20 years old, again 20 years old! He will continue to gain weight, get stronger, and add power. How many homeruns do you think hanley ramirez hit in a full season at age 20? IN hanley's 20 yr old season he hit 6 Homeruns. I Hanley's 21 year old season, he hit, you guessed it, 6 homeruns. I bet you thought he wouldn't develop any power either. Oh yeah, and that was at AA and then AAA along with batting .310 and .271 respectively. Starlin is doing it in the big leagues.

You all are in love with Dominic Brown, he is 23! 3 full years older than Starlin.

You can continue to bash the Cubs all you want. But to be blind to the talent of particular players is sheer ingnorance. Oh and in your case, Chad Bettis must really suck (MOD EDIT) since he isn't in the bigs yet and is 21.....Might want to jump off that band wagon bro.

Someone might have to apologize......

As for the topic at hand, Starlin is a great player. He is going to be very good for a very long time. He has better tools than any shortstop I have ever seen at 20 years old. Whomever made the Jeter comp, that's what I always think as well. Big market team with giant fanbase, uber prospect with outstanding debut, should equal huge prices. Starlin is a great buy right now. I just hope his Auto market doesn't get watered down here in the next couple of months with a crap ton of releases. I also hope he doesn't win NL ROY so his prices stay down until next year. I think Cubs fans were too busy buying Tyler Colvin they will be paying for that mistake next year.

Wow dude how about you just get off of Starlins average **** already..How can you compare Starlin to Hanley???????? Hanley is 40 pounds heavier and three to four inches taller and had a projectable frame at age 20 much different than Castro, and you say Starlins going to gain weight, get stronger, and add power..lol thats a joke he may get stronger but the kid is a shortstop and he needs to be mobile...he'll be a high average kinda guy with 10 hr's a year most likely...thats my opionion and good one at that...quit trying to talk him up because the market hasnt changed on him for months...It used to be way higher too and has dropped dramatically... his 09 ref's were getting almost 100 per...no where near that now...and whats Dominic Brown and Chad DOMINANT Bettis have to do with anything(Anyways look at Chads numbers...even pitched GREAT again last night) because i thought we were talking about GOD ALMIGHTY STARLIN CASTRO here...So stay on topic BRO. LOL

P.S. You should have jumped off that Jorge Bucardo Wagon long ago. ::facepalm::

You say that hanley is 40 pounds heavier? When do you think he gained that weight genius? Most of it was in the last 2 years, 4-5 years after he debuted in the bigs. But I bet your "good opinion" must have forgot that. You contradict yourself by saying he can't gain weight because he needs to be mobile, yet hanley gained 30+ pounds since making his debut.

You continue to talk about Starlin's prices since release. Who cares? I didn't buy a single one of my starlins at release and bought my gems at $55 each which I am extremelÝ comfortable with. Do you realize how many guys from that set are down from release date? Ever heard of dustin ackley?

Not sure what Jorge bucardo has to with anything. Stay on topoic, right? You hypocrite. Oh, and since I bought mine for $.99-$4 each, I am plenty happy with my stash.

I realize you think you are an expert, but you are proving you are from it boy. Get your arguments straight. If you ever want to be a prospector who makes any money, you need to not let your emotions towards a team blind you. You have made it clear to everyone that will listen that you hate the cubs, we all get it. But you shouldn't let that keep you from cashing in. I hate the yankees, bit I sure as hell still buy yankees. Oh, and have you ever been to wrigley since you are such an expert on it?

Anyways, we will see on Castro. A 20 year old shortstop who is 3rd in the league in batting average, I will take it.

Speaking of powerless average hitters, sounds like that overhyped, overrated catcher from up north. I guess I would rather pay $300,00 a year for ours than $18 million for that guy.

Not sure what most of the discussion has to do with Starlin Castro, but can everyone keep it civil from this point on?

(The guy who probably has the most Chad Bettis stuff.... but that's just PC not really investing)

Great....HANLEY IS TALLER AND HAD ROOM FOR WEIGHT...Starlin is small and i'm pretty sure he's not tryin to be a bllimp playing short stop..they list him at 6'0 and thats probably being generous, he'll be same height and relatively same weight for his whole career

You continue to talk about Starlin's prices since release. Who cares? I didn't buy a single one of my starlins at release and bought my gems at $55 each which I am extremelÝ comfortable with. Do you realize how many guys from that set are down from release date? Ever heard of dustin ackley?

Who cares you say???? YOU CARE, LOL....your the one who has $$$$ in the guy....if people really cared about Starlins cards like they used to before/around his call up, then why have they dropped, he's done nothing but succeed in the bigs...I just think he's a poor investment. And i'm more of a short term prospector not a long term...forget that non sense

Not sure what Jorge bucardo has to with anything. Stay on topoic, right? You hypocrite. Oh, and since I bought mine for $.99-$4 each, I am plenty happy with my stash.

::facepalm:: ya well he sucks now

I do really well with prospecting...thanks...I dont need your advice. I never said I hated the cubs nor would I not pick up a certain player because of the team they play on, and yes ive been to Wrigley..whats that have to do with anything, and did I say I was an expert..quit putting words in my mouth

Anyways, we will see on Castro. A 20 year old shortstop who is 3rd in the league in batting average, I will take it.

^ Correct...All I said was that he's going to be a high average kinda guy and that IMO he's not a great "investment"...remember..chicks dig the LONG BALL

Speaking of powerless average hitters, sounds like that overhyped, overrated catcher from up north. I guess I would rather pay $300,00 a year for ours than $18 million for that guy.

^ ?? LOL...talking to yourself, eh?

You have to hit tons of homeruns at a very important position on the field to be popular?

Signed, Joe Mauer

No, but it sure helps your prices go up.

Signed, Joe Mauer's cards last season

Whatever you say bro.....

I have my thoughts, you have yours. We will see who is right. To say that a 20 year old kid won't fill out and gain weight is just silly. I could name 50 examples of guys who came up young and added weight, strength, and power. Will starlin ever hit 50 Home runs? No, of course not. But can he bat .330 with 20 Homeruns, certainly, and I expect him to, soon.

Anyways, good luck to you. We'll talk in a couple of years when Starlin is an all star and Chad bettis is chilling in a AAA bullpen.

I don't think anyone is expecting Chad Bettis to explode to levels that Castro did, but you also could never pick up Castro blue refs or autographs for three dollars or less at any point in time.
