Nothing so far has backed that up-it could very well be 2010 Bowman Chrome that he is in. Yeah, the card stock has to be Chrome, because the only non-chrome auto in 2010 Bowman is Strasburg, from what I am understanding. Just to play devil's advocate, I would assume just yet that Starlin is an auto in 2010 Bowman. Sure, I'd love for that to be the case, but from the posts I have read, none of them back up firmly him being in 2010 Bowman.
Look again at the preliminary checklist and at this thread.
There are plenty of autographs on base Bowman stock besides Strasburg, and according to Topps' Twitter page, Castro is in fact an auto in this product.
Last I saw, the autos are CHROME. For instance, a jumbo will yield 3 chrome autos. From what I am understanding, Strasburg is the only paper auto in the set. Isn't that what they are saying, 3 CHROME autos per jumbo?
Sigh. Please show me a past Bowman product which contained only 1 Bowman base auto in it.
Now, as for Starlin Castro, here's the entire conversation I had with the Topps guy on Twitter. Read it, then tell me I'm wrong.
Topps -- Starlin Castro, Dustin Ackley, and Stephen Strasburg all signed on card for Bowman today.
Me -- Just to clarify, Ackley and Castro are both going to be autographs in 2010 Bowman, not '10 Bowman Chrome, which comes out later?
Topps -- Yes. That's not to say they won't be autos in Chrome. I just tweeted the info I was given today.
Me -- Thanks. Are Starlin Castro's Bowman autos going to appear on base Bowman stock, or on Bowman Chrome stock, within 2010 Bowman?
Topps -- Almost positive he'll be on Chrome stock, but I don't have the sell sheet in front of me at the moment for reference.
The sell sheet doesn't say anything about Castro even possibly being in the set, so why does he bring that up? The Topps guy doesn't sound very knowledgeable. The suspense is killing me, though, just release it a few weeks early!! ha
Yes, the Topps guy said Starlin signed cards for Topps. He did not clarify what product the Starlin auto cards are going to be in-though it sounds like they will be on chrome stock.
