I decided to ask Topps if Castro's autos would be on Bowman or Bowman Chrome stock within Bowman.

Their reply:

Almost positive he'll be on Chrome stock, but I don't have the sell sheet in front of me at the moment for reference.

If he's right, things just got even better.

That doesn't really make sense to me. They just had the signing but they are "almost positive" he'll be on chrome stock cards?

If he just signed the cards, then they clearly know what card stock he will be for the release. That really sounds like a promotional game to me on behalf of Topps.

People at Topps don't communicate. You can ask one person one thing and then another person the exact same thing and you get two completely different answers.

I get the feeling the Twitter guy at Topps is just a figurehead who types what he hears from those in the know at Topps.

OK, then that's enough for me to wait and not buy any product.

Watch Castro not even be in the set, lol.

Unless they do sticker autos, as mentioned above, which could ruin this product real quick.

@toppscards are you going to have any cards in 2010 Bowman that won't be on-card autos?

@yellowkicks I'm not sure about that. I know that we had some guys sign some stickers, but not sure where they'll be used.

Yep. Blowout was close to $100 cheaper on Hobby cases this morning than they are now.

That's nothing new. Topps is notorious for including both in this product.

And you know what? Even if some of the better guys are stickers, I doubt it'll affect the value. Not until they're Chrome autos in BC, at least.

I guess I don't understand everyone and the assumptions that Starlin will be in 2010 Bowman.

Nothing so far has backed that up-it could very well be 2010 Bowman Chrome that he is in. Yeah, the card stock has to be Chrome, because the only non-chrome auto in 2010 Bowman is Strasburg, from what I am understanding. Just to play devil's advocate, I would assume just yet that Starlin is an auto in 2010 Bowman. Sure, I'd love for that to be the case, but from the posts I have read, none of them back up firmly him being in 2010 Bowman.

Look again at the preliminary checklist and at this thread.

There are plenty of autographs on base Bowman stock besides Strasburg, and according to Topps' Twitter page, Castro is in fact an auto in this product.

Last I saw, I thought the autos were all chrome? For instance, a jumbo will yield 3 chrome autos. From what I am understanding, Strasburg is the only paper auto in the set. Isn't that what they are saying, 3 CHROME autos per jumbo?

Again, I'm not understanding how it's assumed Starlin is in 2010 Bowman:

toppscards @Jaypers413 Yes. That's not to say they won't be autos in Chrome. I just tweeted the info I was given today.

From this message, it does nothing to say he is in 2010 Bowman. As he said, they could be in 2010 Bowman Chrome. I just don't know if it's right to jump the gun here. I sure as heck hope he's going to be in it, but I'm just not ready to believe it yet.

Sigh. Please show me a past Bowman product which contained only 1 Bowman base auto in it.

Now, as for Starlin Castro, here's the entire conversation I had with the Topps guy on Twitter. Read it, then tell me I'm wrong.

Topps -- Starlin Castro, Dustin Ackley, and Stephen Strasburg all signed on card for Bowman today.

Me -- Just to clarify, Ackley and Castro are both going to be autographs in 2010 Bowman, not '10 Bowman Chrome, which comes out later?

Topps -- Yes. That's not to say they won't be autos in Chrome. I just tweeted the info I was given today.

Me -- Thanks. Are Starlin Castro's Bowman autos going to appear on base Bowman stock, or on Bowman Chrome stock, within 2010 Bowman?

Topps -- Almost positive he'll be on Chrome stock, but I don't have the sell sheet in front of me at the moment for reference.

The sell sheet doesn't say anything about Castro even possibly being in the set, so why does he bring that up? The Topps guy doesn't sound very knowledgeable. The suspense is killing me, though, just release it a few weeks early!! ha

Like he said-"that's not to say they won't be autos in Chrome"-meaning they may be in 2010 Bowman Chrome, NOT 2010 Bowman.

Not necessarily. He could have meant that they could also have autos in 2010 BC AS WELL as 2010 Bowman w/ Chrome.
