I doubt that...sounds more like baseball people trying to out think themselves. What's lost in all this is that according to Strasburg himself they didn't inform him he was getting shut down when the GM was going out and making it very public, then after he heard about it wasn't sure when he was getting shut down and again the GM and coach have already run out to the media to have a firm number in place, and when he comes out and makes a statement that he wants to stay in is immediately shut down.

You can almost see the fall out from this such as the team tanking, Strasburg being off his game when the playoffs start, or a large rift forming between their star and managment that will screw next season over....or nothing.

No XXXX the media is all over him. The Nats have completely effed this situation up. It's all their fault the media is questioning them and after a rough start, they claim mental problems. The only people with mental problems here are the people making this decision for the Nationals.

This is ridiculous. If there is something we don't know then they need to release a statement of some sort even if it's a vague one. Know one is guaranteed a future. Hell he can slip in the shower and never throw a ball again. If there is not a true medical reason for this I sure hope this kid grows some balls and insists on pitching. Would hate to see his name next to Niekro, Sutton, Perry, and who ever else I am forgetting of great pictures not to win a series. I know he's young but there may not be a tomorrow.

I just dont understand why they don't ask him how he feels or what he wants to do. If they are so worried have the dr's check him out and see how his arm is looking.

I'm guessing they set this limit not expecting to have any shot at the playoffs, sometimes you have to divert from the original plan.

Um where do you see is not important. Lets look at his stats across that list you posted shall we.
I know you can see what I see.

He is 2nd in games won with 15
he is tied for 2nd in games lost with 6
he is 4th in ERA but is only .18 of the lowest in GIO
he is tied for 1st in games started
he is 4th in innings and only off 16 from GIO
he is 3rd in hits allowed with 136 per 159.1 innings pitched so that is 0.854808* hits per inning
he is tied 3rd in runs with 62 and only 6 off the lowest by Detwiler having 56
he is 2nd in earned runs with 56 and is only 7 off of Detwiler having 49
he is 3rd in walks allow and 14 off Zimmermann 34
he is 1st in strikeouts and is 12 over Gio having 185
he is 2nd in AVE and only .022 behind with Gio who has.208
he is tied for 2nd in WHIP with 1.15

So he is important in a 5 man rotation for sure in this stretch run . But in the playoffs when you go with a 3 man, he could be on the bench with this starting 5
or even com in in mid relief
But I would take him over Jackson any day any game of the week, and even playoffs.

Pinetar, your comparing the wrong direction. You need to compare him against the guy that would replace him.
The stat drop off to Detwiler or Jackson is minimal.
