Alex, I said it before, and I'll say it again, we miss Seafair

Dave, the Michigan race is always the Canada race. Its the closest to the border.

There is a proposal for a new road track north of Calgary, on the lines of Miller MSP in Utah and Vegas.
The half mile banked oval and drag strip that used to be in town was torn up for future landfill use. Calgary is getting too big.

I remember seeing a lot of Ontario license plates and Canadian flags in the parking lots. that would be cool if a road course was built in Calgary.

Hello Jessie!

Looks like the track is drying. Might get the event in today. Never been to a Cup race, I did go to Gateway (1 mile track across the river from St. Louis) Busch race back in 2001. Hated it. I'd rather go to a Road Racing track, such as Road America, Mid-Ohio, etc. I've been to Indy, Milwaukee, Road America, the Formula One race on the streets of downtown Detroit, and Mid-Ohio.

I met some of the greatest names in racing, Al Unser, Rick Mears, the late Al Holbert, Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti, Danny Sullivan, A J Foyt, Dick Trickle, Mark Martin (bought a T-Shirt from his mother in 1981), Bobby Allison, Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki, Rusty Wallace.

I used to take auto racing photo's as a hobby back in the 80's. I needed a fast lens, the reason why I bought a Zeiss 200mm F2.8 lens. Camera innovation has came so far in the last 20 years.

I really enjoy seeing what Scott and Dave are posting. Excellent photos with great optics.

I've been past BIR during the NHRA Summer Nationals. I will go one of these years, but the town grows by a lot of people during the races.

We have a dirt track in town that's used every Sunday night during the summer, but I've never been. I will go once I can convince them that they need Lawnmower racing.

The proposed multi-million dollar raceway planned northeast of Calgary is being touted as a world class facility with Western Canada’s longest track.
Dominic Young with Rockyview Motorsports Park (RMP), a group of businessmen proposing to build the $30-million track near Airdrie, said the closest similar racing facility would be in California or Nevada.
The private group has negotiated an agreement to purchase about 200 hectares of land to build the first phase of the project, which will feature a 4.5 km (2.8mi) track, part of an expansive development estimated in total at just under 1,300 hectares.
The RMP is also hoping to develop an executive airport, retail and industrial businesses in the area.
“It’s relatively sparsely populated from a residence perspective.
“In terms of the specific location, it has great access, close by in terms of access for the user groups.”
The first phase of the development is also slated to include a 0.6 km drag strip, trackside luxury car parking, and a 1.2 km kart track.
Young said he’s been involved in the development of the project for more than a year, following the closure last year of Race City.
The facility is being built to respond to the need in the area for a decent track and not necessarily to attract events such as Indy Car races, although the facility would be able to host that magnitude of event, he said.
“We’re not convinced that that’s a money-making proposition,” he told reporters.
But Young said there’s an opportunity to draw races such as the Porsche GT3 and Ferrari 458 series.
Ryan Ockey, who was a member of a committee organized by Ald. Shane Keating to look into a possible race track site, said he’s seen the location and it’s perfect.
There are exciting elevation changes that will challenge even the most experienced driver, he said.
Ockey, who drives a Ferrari, a Porsche and a Lamborghini, said the RMP has put together a solid, definable business plan with reasonable objectives.
“There were lots of pie in the sky that we looked at,” he said.
“We’re supportive of it because it looks like it’s going to work,” said Ockey, who’s talking with RMP about being a potential club member.
If everything falls into place, RMP expects to open the track early 2014.

Barry, from your PM, I think there is an international flat rate box. Its safe to Canada, just make sure you declare the value. Whatever 2000 commons would be/whatever he pays.

Black diamond OPC artifacts is all $25
That's not Walmart. Same prices there though.
Hoping to see something different with Target arriving next year. Not holding my breath though.
