Thanks Dan. Just a very frustrating thing. Sets some other plans back a couple steps and pisses me off.
2 bolts, 2 nuts, and $80 and she is done.
You can also tap on it w/ a hammer. Often times when starters are going they just don't go. The brushes get stuck and tapping the casing can get you another week or month+
Herr in small town Kansas we have O'Reilley's (which I refuse to go to), autozone and the small local guy who is always $50 higher.
I may make the drive to Wichita or Tulsa to get one and save a good chunk of money. It was cold out this morning, but pushed 50 this afternoon so was hoping that'd help. It tried to turn over, bit just started clicking again. I'll tap on it tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'll beat the crab out of it and replace it.
Going to try that tomorrow. Not real sure what's going on. It sounds like the starter is trying to engage the flywheel, but won't crank it. Hate working on vehicles.
Autozone quoted me just under $200 on a new starter, with warranty. Could buy a reman, but think I prefer the warranty.
