Whats a a couple of super star rookie cards you never thought would drop so much in value?

For me, Leaf Thomas rookie would be near the top followed by UD Griffey.

I wont say Topps Mac because that card blew up SOLEY because of what he did in 1998 and once the hype died down, you knew it was coiming back to earth with 800,000 made.

Canseco RR. $10 is just amazing considering it was once at $150 ...

And they can be picked up for $1.50 or $2 at shows

I'll go with the 89 UD Griffey too. I saw an off-center one for 10 bucks recently. I still think they'll go back up soon, but still...

I think ebay caused most of these drops. I remember there used to be one Rickey RC in town with a bent corner for $70. Now you can get them for less than $10 on ebay...

In the "mid-term" (5-15 years?) I think any FY/RC will drop in value or at least never rise.

Due to mass production of cards in the 80's and 90's, I'm not surprised that every single card has dropped in value.

It'll be interesting to see how chrome autograph cards (about print run 2000) or major stars or exquisites or limited print run rookies of today's stars will do over the next twenty years.

Probably the Griffey UD RC, though when he's inducted I would not be surprised if it's reaching $40-$50 raw.

In twenty years, we will probably be able to replicate cards in our home offices :?

I sold one of my extra 2001 ud prospect premieres xrc Ryan Howard for 60 dollars in 2006.

It has went down so much its ridiculous. Base cards have lost value over the past few years.

Howard hit that walk off to dead center in one of his first games up. He has won a world series since. shows that overproduction leads to people wanting rarer items like 1/1's

In 2004, I bought 100 1987 Fleer PSA 9 Barry Bonds RCs for $6635 delivered (sold them all for $8300).

You can buy 82 of them right now for $10.25 each on thepit.com.

1968 Topps Nolan Ryan RC's
- These were once commanding $1000++ for less than quality copies. Now a good copy can be had for ~$400.

1983 Topps Ryne Sandberg RC's
- These were some of the hottest cards in the industry at one point commanding $100 - $150 for clean copies.

1988 Score R/T Mark Grace
- These were like what, $50 plus at one point. Perhaps more?

1991 Topps SC cards
- There were more $20+ dollar cards in this set than anything in recent memory. Sets were like $400 at one point.

Could really go on forever listing cards/sets that lost huge value over the years.. :/
