Wow Ryan Following me here and trying to pic a fight with me here like you always do on Topps? really? Doesnt work on Topps anymore and it wont work here.
Just so sad Ryan.. it really is. let the past go man. let it go. You seem to be stuck on it. Things happened in the past on Topps yes but it was a long time ago. and it is no longer anymore. Time to move on Ryan

Following you here? What do you mean? I joined Dec 12, 2008 and you joined Sep 30, 2009, after seeing me recommend this site to some of the cooler people at Topps.

You think I followed you into this thread to pic (sic) a fight? Let's review your first post in The Albert Pujols is ridiculously good thread

WOW I cant believe I almost read this entire thread. LOL
Is Pujols the best ever? no. tops 5? no. How many triple crowns does Ted Williams have? Is Pujols a great player yes. Ridiculously good? no. Not in my opinion.
Now I see someone here saying Howard is better. Well. not in all categories. Yes Howard does shine better in some areas. since 2006 Howard has had more RBI's than Pujols and more Home runs. But they are 2 different kind of players. 2 different styles. Pujols kills Howard with the Average and Howard does strike out a lot. But to compare 2 players is moot. You can never say one player is the best ever unless that player did better than everyone else in every category. And that will never happen because some play longer than others and so forth.
So in my opinion is Pujols the best? no. will he be the best ever? no. Is he in the top 5? no. is he in the top 50 id say yes.

So you came into a thread where people think that Pujols is ridiculously good, and you say that he's not. It's hard to see with a mote in thy eye brother, but from my view it seems you tried to pick a fight.

And honestly... what about my response to you did you consider picking a fight? Or is it picing?

You don't think Pujols is ridiculously good? What else does he have to do?
alot more. A tripple crown would impress me. batting over 400 atleast for 1 season would impress me.

So you are saying that you aren't impressed with any active hitters?

If he was a Phillie it would impress you. You would think he was the greatest ever.

I didn't criticize you when I asked if you weren't impressed with any active hitters, I was just curious. After seeing you go on and on about the greatness of Ryan Howard, it just surprised me, that's all.

And the second statement is the absolute truth. If the teams that Pujols and Howard came up on and currently played for were switched, so would your views of these two players. I'll just leave it at that since I don't want to pick any fights.

:grouphug:

Oh shoot, I had to edit to say I forgot to say Brad in every sentence. My bad, you have to fill that part in yourself. Brad.
Wow Ryan your unhealthy passion for me is starting to scare me.

Just wanted to chime in.....

Is Albert Pujols ridiculously good? Well, lets try and make this as factual as possible, shall we?

FACT 1.
Over his first ~9.5 seasons Albert has averaged ~150 games, ~115 runs, ~190 hits, ~40 hrs, 120 rbis, and batting a .330+/- year in and year out.

FACT 2.
Over his first ~9.5 seasons Albert has lead the league in runs(4x), slg(3x), ops(3x), ops+(3x), tb(4x), Hits, hrs, and ba.

FACT 3.
Over his first ~9.5 seasons Albert has earned 9 AS appearances, 5 SS awards, 3 MVPs, a ROY, and a GG (on a side note has been in the top 4 of MVP voting 8 times!)

My opinion based on the FACTS, as well as defensive skill, and intangables, is that Pujols has already forged himself as one of the greats of the game. And further more, if he continues to produce for another 5 years alone, he will be one of the top 5 greatest players to ever step on a baseball field. If by some chance he can put together a 18-20 year career, he is going to enter the Ruthian realm that very, VERY few have gone. Is he good? Obviously. Is he great? Absolutely! Is he ridiculously good? In my opinion, yes. Infact, it's my opinion that anyone who thinks otherwise is 'ridiculous'.

A little prayer should help everything out. I'm sorry I argued with you on this board Brad, it's just that Brad, you hadn't yet expressed this:

Now that I realize that you can't think straight it explains everything, add to that the fact that you can't remember half the stuff you type and everything is resolved. I will try to keep these facts in mind during future interactions with you.

And really, if you read back through the thread....... you will see what inspired my "unhealthy passion" was your unwarranted prayers. You never did explain what inspired you to say you would pray for me.

First off, I didn't read through the thread all the way so I'm not sure if this has been asked...but I'll get down to it.

Ok, so I'm trying to collect signed bats of players in the 500+ HR club, and I actually already have Pujols' bat but I was just wondering how many total HR's you guys think he'll reach?

Bongo - I will not attempt to argue stats, because they obviously go way over your head....but who (in your opinion) is the best baseball player today if Pujols is not?

See that was my entire point of this thing. Everyone got all bent out of shape because I didn't think Pujols is the best playing now. Who do I think is the Best? no one is the best. Some sine better in some stats and others shine better in other stats. To sit there and say who is the best is moot. Sure one player may do better than the other in average. and yet someone else does better in home runs and so forth. I can see saying someone is the best home run hitter. For that person had the most over anyone else. but to say that one player is the best is moot in my opinion.
Let me ask you this question. Who is the best baseball player ever? How can you answer that?
And how are stats going over my head?

So forget age and contract status, and you're starting a team from scratch. Which player is your first overall pick if you can choose any player in the league.
