If you didn't want to rain on his parade, why did you do it?

He didn't rain on my parade though at all. I said this is the best card "you will ever see". You won't ever see the red refractor auto 1/1 because I am pretty sure it would have surfaced by now. Hopefully I am wrong and it pops up so I can buy it.

I have this card too but I personally don't think it's close.

Really nice cards. He's got a great sig, hopefully it doesn't change too much. Congrats on the new pick-up!

Oh relax. I was just pointing out an obvious flaw in his reasoning. Since when is politely pointing out reality a big deal. It's a great card and I never said otherwise. It's not like I said "Your card sucks, bro. The Red Refractor blows your stupid, lame card away, you idiot!" I simply pointed out that there is a better card out there, in direct opposition to the claim made in the title. Like I said, relax.

Great card. I guess people will continue to wonder why folks don't spend as much time on here anymore.

So sick of seeing these types of posts around here. I am on every trading card forum on the net and other than their specific BST or box break sections, every single one is a POS compared to FCB. Go hang out with the 13 year old mental midgets at Blowout if you can't handle people being straight up about REAL trading card information around here. Or maybe you can hang out with the 75 over-zealous mods to every poster (all 15 of them) on SCF? Or talk 90% PSA grading at the PSA boards or ONLY pre-war cards at Net54. Or maybe you want to hang out with all the newbie collectors at Beckett's forum. Lot's of geniuses there. Give me a break man.

Does he open himeself up with the Title? Or are people just being too harsh?

I personally dont like plates especially with sticker auto on them but its what makes us all individuals. One mans junk is another mans treasure, which is so true. I have Plenty of cards myself that people may think or look at as junk but to me are just incredible.
Seems like your stoked about the pick up so good job!

Says the guy with all stickers in his sig.

I didn't take any particular offense to your comment (and neither did he). I was just pointing out the irony. Kind of like when someone begins a sentence with "No offense, but..." and then proceeds to make offensive comment.

Its a nice card but at least he didn't come out and proclaim himself as the best player collector ever. Gotta love those threads. :benson:

Lots of ways to look at this...here is mine. The OP put out a challenge in his title, some people came in to debate it. That is, after all, what these forums are for.

OP believes he is right. Others believe they are right.

Bottom line...great pick up of a hot player. Well done. Could we all be more tactful in our word choice? Of course.

Is it the "best"? Well, best is pretty subjective and that is, as they say, in the eye of the beholder.

Long live free speech and the debate it brings.

Everybody argued it wasn't the best but not one person posted up a picture of a card that was better of mine that they've seen. I was kind of hoping people would so I can track down those cards and buy them to be honest, especially that red refractor 1/1 which I know is better.

It should've been inserted. There were supposedly two copies of each Red produced that year, both signed by the respective player. One was supposed to be saved for replacement (without the 3M sticker on the back), but Phil Hughes convinced the Topps rep to let him keep one. Or at least, that's what I was told by the owner of a card shop who was friends with Hughes and had the card at the time (this was 2007).
