Here's the craziest cameo coincidence I can imagine. I keep an eye out for Don Zimmer cameos for my Zim collection. In the decade I've spent collecting him, I never knew about these! I always thought I'd discover a vintage cameo of him sooner or later, but this takes the cake:

Checklist cards first became a "thing" in 1961 Topps. Prior to that, team photo cards had that team's checklist on them. In 1961, numerically arranged checklist appeared for each of the seven series Topps released. So there are 7 checklists for the set.

In some strange coincidence, Don Zimmer makes a cameo appearance on 3 of the 7 checklists!

Series 2:
Features photo from a game played on July 24, 1960 at Wrigley Field,
with Cubs hosting Milwaukee Braves. The three players in foreground are,
from left to right, Joe Adcock, Ernie Banks and Don Zimmer.

Series 3:
Features photo from a game played on August 30, 1960 at Wrigley Field,
with Cubs hosting Pittsburgh Pirates. Don Zimmer is pictured in between
Willie Jones and Leo Cardenas, caught trying to advance to third.

Series 4:
Features photo from a game played on June 9, 1960 at Wrigley Field,
with Cubs hosting Pittsburgh Pirates. Don Zimmer is pictured to the right of the
umpire, with his back turned and jersey number 17 showing.

Awesome finds!! And the best part is that they probably weren't expensive to pick up :)

So that's 7 previously unknown Zimmer cards, for roughly $30? Thats got to be the score of the year - or at least the month!

True, they're around $4 each in EX condition. However, there are 3 printing variations of Checklist 2, 2 of Checklist 3, and 2 of Checklist 4. So had to pick up 7 cards total.

Traffic on my cameo webpages has taken off recently so I was wondering if this thread had anything to do with it, but it hasn't been updated in a few years. Even though this is not a guy I track, I was amazed how many cameo cards Matt Stairs has on Alex Gonzalez cards in 1998. All of them are different images from the same play.

1998 Pacific Crown Collection - [Base] #221
1998 Pacific Omega - [Base] #248
1998 Pacific Paramount - [Base] #114
1998 Pinnacle - [Base] #137.1
1998 Score Rookie Traded - [Base] #RT65
1998 Topps - [Base] #109

Good day for baseball photos I guess. At least 3 manufacturers, but maybe they were buying freelance photos.

Most superstars from the 1980's seem to have a fair amount of cameos, but for some reason these guys do not. Anyone know if I am missing any for these guys?

Puckett can be seen on the

1990 Publications International trivia sticker of John Moses
1994 jumbo UD All-Star green and gold seal Ken Griffey Jr cards, he’s on the back of them.
1996 Marquette Banks sponsored twins set, he’s on the Terry Crowley card

I also think he may be the blurry out of focus player on the 1992 Fleer Greg Gagne, 1994 Fleer Gene Larkin, 1994 UD Patt Mears, 1995 UD collectors choice SE Shane Mack. But these may be similar to the Patterson-Gimlin film of Bigfoot.

What?!?!? I have had the 1990 Publication International for thirty years and never noticed that Puckett. Of course I had to scrutinize every sheet to see what else I missed. There is a good Kruk, but that is about it except maybe a very blurry Hojo behind a pitcher at 3B.

I can’t find the 1994 Griffey upper deck. Does that have a card number?
