So my wife set up an ebay account under her name, our home address and phone number (mine was under the shop's) and my checking account.

It was immediately restricted to 10 items or $500 a month. I called and said that since the checking info matched, then it was linked to my account which was indefinitely restricted from selling. Makes sense. So she went ahead and linked her own checking account. I called to have the restriction atleast increased and was told I couldn't because....get this....we are married. Our accounts are linked because we are married.

So, my wife is unable to sell her crafts on Ebay, even though EVERY PIECE OF INFORMATION IS DIFFERENT ON THE ACCOUNT.....except our last name.

Anyone have a customer relations number I can call? These phone monkeys are doing absolutely nothing for me.

I really hope someone can find a way to sue eBay for SOMETHING over this garbage. It seems completely unfair to not allow people who have seemingly done no real wrong the chance to make money. I can see if they were booting thieves, that is logical, but honest sellers trying to make a buck in a struggling economy being shut-out over petty things makes me cringe. There really needs to be some kind of lawsuit to stop this absolutely illogical and unfair business practice. I realize that it's "their business and they can do what they want", but there has to be SOME kind of discrimination or unethical business practice law. People are being mistreated and I, as a seller, am noticing less and less people bidding/buying. It's starting to affect ME. You can't kick so many people off eBay and expect that they will still BUY on eBay. It's freaking illogical. They are shooting all us sellers who remain in the foot.

In all seriousness, if they wouldn't allow my wife access to their site over something I did, I would look into a lawsuit. That is 100% unfair and unethical and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. You can't "punish" people for something they didn't even do.

I think since you let them know your married since you used so of the same info, they are only trying to protect the buys of your stuff and then as well as hers. I'm not saying in anyway you guys would scam anyone, I just think that they over thought on this end of your intentions. ::facepalm:: Ebay is a bitch sometimes. I have friend right now that had a business account for like 6 years and then
the business folded do to the economy, but has since opened a regular account, to try and sell things like an on-line garage sale.
He is fighting them I think for some what the same thing since he link some of the same info from the business (ie the bank account I think)

Good Luck sir F-bay sucks ass

All new accounts are restricted to 10 Items/$500 per month. Doesn't matter if you are married, in the same house, etc. I know two people(lil bro and a friend) that opened an Ebay account the past two months and they both got the same restrictions.

I wish they just would have told me that...lol.

I'm not sure if that's correct anyway, because for the first two days, she had a $5,000 a month limit. And the explanation I was given was because some of the information was linked back to my old account.

When I opened a selling account I had a 100 item and $5,000 limit.

However, I had over 400 feedback at that point, so it wasn't a "new" account.

I still have the same limit, but I never come close to hitting it.

Ebay isn't even run by humans anymore. Some high-level exec who has never sold on Ebay came up with numbers, and now everyone has to follow them, no matter what. Has your wife checked out Etsy? I'm sure she'll find it much more pleasant, and with less fees.

Yeah, she's looking into Etsy for the things she makes. But she has some supplies that she doesn't use anymore that actually bring ok money on Ebay.
