I'd be willing to sell my collection to fund my upcoming vacation, but it would be hard for me to part with it, especially knowing that I will never get what I put into. I have sold one of my Span autos, and that was to TGutta because he is down to only needing 40 or so non 1/1's of Denard Span and this was an auto numbered /15. I think if I were to sell any of my collection it would have to be to somebody who I know will cherish them

I sold a good chunk of my collection to buy a camera. I've never looked back. Thinking about selling more actually.

See my signature for the pics I've taken :D

Definately not rich.. but if we are doing a family vacation it will already be budgeted for so I don't have to mortgage any of my posessions to pay for it. As a hardcore player collector I'd hate to see someone sell something they know they won't ever get back and then regret it after. If your good with selling your rarest items in your PC then you should have no problem just selling off the rest of it... I've thought about selling my collection many times but I just can't bring myself to do it.. and there would be no better time than now because his cards are getting the most money they have in a very long time. This is why I watch what I buy for my collection and factor that budget along with everything else in my house.. that way its not taking away from family stuff.

It is not about NOT being able to afford the vacation or even the items I buy. It is about the collection actually paying off.

I think in Brads situation, value wise, finding a crusade collector willing to pay a premium for the Grace set is the highest value he will ever get considering the whole DUI thing and such.

I hear ya Alex..

I buy all my cards knowing they will never go anywhere once they arrive at my house. I don't have a ton of disposable income but the little I do is what I use and I never expect a return on it other than the enjoyment I get from my collection. I can buy and sell anything and everything without any attachment but for the sentimental reasons alone I just can't sell even a single card from my PC. Hell I traded a /10 triple jersey auto from it and haven't been able to replace it to this point and that bugs me because I don't trade anything I don't have a double of or can easily replace. My collection is my only vice.. I don't collect anything else and don't care to unless its Benjamin's.

Good morning.

I'm pretty tired. It rained last night which spooked the dog, so he came and laid on my bed, except he won't let me sleep when he's scared.

Gotta figure out how to get him over his fear of thunder. Any ideas?

Oh man, do I have a decision to make. Received quite the offer for my 98 Crusade prototype rainbow of Grace. I'd hate to sell it, but man, it would pay for my whole family's week long summer vacation. What to do, what to do.

If you cant afford the vacation on your own then sell, if you can afford the vacation then don't sell. The guy will always want the card so pretty much you will be able to sell it to him at anytime if you at some point have to move it. Good luck with what ever you decide and let us know how it goes. I personally would not sell but then again I have a house car and vacation money and don't need too. Only time I would if it was to save someones life but that's about it.

Yes thank you, I saw a couple that I would consider contacting the guy about. I've been so caught up on nt stuff that I haven't went after any other type of cards, it's been a long time since I have went after so much from 1 set, lol.

Who is offering? That could be low-balling you.

Got busy at work, just saw all the responses. Thanks all for your opinions.

I doubt I'd ever be able to replace the cards. I've never seen any of them again. I bought these around 2001. He's offering me more than 5X what I paid for them, probably $500 over market value. I'm balancing the 3 cards versus 7 days lakefront cabin rental in Michigan and 2 days of theme park / water park tickets, and maybe $200 left over. I love the cards, but this might be a time for me to put family first. We'll probably do the vacation regardless, but it would be sweet not to take it out of savings. I'm not rich by any means.

The offer is definitely not low-ball, it's probably better than any I could hope for. But that rainbow is one of my most proud collecting achievements - to have all 6 crusades. Really tough decision. I've never collected for profit. I'll think about it for awhile. I've heard from another dedicated player collector who has another player's rainbow, and he's seriously thinking about selling to him - as his dedication to completing the master set of Crusade prototypes is pretty impressive. I agree, and if I do decide to sell, wouldn't mind seeing them go to the guy.

One other possibility is that I sell the cards and pay for most of my dream card:

If you sell the rainbow, make sure it's for something that'll create the worthy memories. Go for the vacation funds.
As nice as the Cap is, you can't be guaranteed tomorrow. Take the family time.

+1

It's also cool that the cards would be sold to someone who is putting the master set together. That's insane first off and imagine of he completed it someday. SICK!!!!
