Evening folks, tired as hell from a 3 and a half drive from work back home. Just gonna kick back and watch the Yankees.

Everyone looking forward to their weekend?

No, as I work with the dumbest folks living.

Even get to work on father's day while 99.9% of the non fathers get that day off.

Watching 'Magic Mike' right now. At least Kevin Nash is in it.

Watching Everyday Eddie get inducted really brings back memories.

It's cool that they did this during the Tigers' series so that Hunter could be there.

Happy Flag Day

Boys and I helped retire old worn flags with the local Veterans of Foreign Wars tonight.

gracecollector: Wow, that's kind if neat to see. I didn't know that old US flags were incinerated, but I guess it's more dignified than throwing it in the trash. Is there some sort of decommissioning ceremony that's done before a flag can be burned? What happens to the ashes?

I believe different groups do it differently, but usually a flag is folded properly, then it's decommissioned with it's ashes buried.

When I was younger, I had to learn a lot about flag etiquette, folding, ceremonies, and decommissioning. I don't believe I ever witnessed a flag being decommissioned though.

I had to refresh myself a little bit though, so I used this:

Flag Etiquette, Flag Disposal, and Federal Flag Code | VFW

US flags should never be thrown in the trash, only burned or buried. You can drop them off at a VFW for proper disposal. The veterans present the flags for inspection, then a buglar played Taps. Ashes are just buried or dispersed.
