Charlie - Nice find dude  I think the video actually makes that song.
Can't go wrong setting your music to vids of Mick and The Kid.

No kidding...the Babe had a pretty sweet appearance as well. I enjoyed seeing Ruth and Jeter do the forhead sweat wipe at the same time 8-)

Had you not seen the commercial before?

They play it about 30 times during every Cubs game

I think it's an awesome commercial. I've seen it about 1,000 times already though. Having Jr. and the Mick together is awesome. 2 of my all time favorite players. It's been said a million times before, but they are kind of linked through their respective careers.

 ...that was my first time watching it...thanks for breaking me in  And I don't watch Cubs games unless the rare occurance that the M's are playing them. To be honest though we haven't had cable for about a year so every game being watched was the "awesome" virtual cartoon games with live audio ::facepalm::

I like to think of all of you as my friends. Whether that feeling is reciprocated or not (tramers  ), is beside the point.

While I enjoy sharing anectdotes and jokes, life occurances, sports talk and knowledge, card talk and knowledge, or basically anything and everything we ever talk about, I have absolutely ZERO desire to see any of you in a compromosing way. I don't care of if it's pixelated or not dammit!!!

Dave- The set is looking GREAT! I can't wait to have them in hand and start signing them. Whenever you're ready to do the backs, let me know and we'll work some magic. :D

Nick- Welcome aboard! I know I am biased, but this is the best sports card message board I have ever been on. There are so many great people here it is unreal. With only one or two exceptions (me and maybe MattinglyAlexander  just kidding bud), the Morning Thread is a good collection of great board members.

One things for sure... I getting some really great material for the backs of ya'lls cards ;)

Ok, player collectors, how do you handle paying a buck for a card and $3 for shipping?!? ::facepalm:: :D Do you pay it? Wait till someone is nice enough to trade or give you the low end cards from a board somewhere? Seriously. What do you guys do?

sadly Dave I usually pay the $3 but I have a sickness and now you will too :D but seriously if I can't find it on sportlots.com, checkoutmycards.com, the Beckett Marketplace or anywhere else I will just pay the $3 and move on.

Dave- It all depends. If it's a card that I can find on the regular, I just wait it out. Normally I'll be able to pick it up in a lot with other cards or someone will list it with $1-2 shipping and I'll get it then.

If it's a card that doesn't pop up often, I'll go ahead and drop the money and get it.

There are plenty of cards out there with pretty high production runs that don't pop up often. Especially of Dunn. People will list Griffey and Rose stuff because they know the name and there are a lot of people that collect them. For Dunn, I think he has something like 200 items (not including stores) listed on eBay and that's it. So if it's a card that I've been looking for, it could be BIN $1 with $3.50 shipping and I'll bite the bullet and buy it.

Sorry for the long read bud. ::facepalm:: So if it's easy to find- pass. If it's not- buy it. :D

Dave - I've done it for cards #'d to 100 or less, but if it's something with a high PR
I'll usually wait it out to see if I can find it in a lot, or COMC, or at a show, or trade.

There are actually a few low $$ cards on my watchlist right now that I have not bought
yet for this exact reason. Although one of these days, I'll prolly hit the BINs on them too.

I am going with the concensus: If it is needed, buy it up regardless. If it is something you know will pop up more often then not then ride it out until you can pick it up "easier". I just started to "purchase" King Felix singles...not from ebay but atleast from the good ole' FCB. I only came across this "issue" once, but I was able to add other items to the purchase so that I wasn't paying 3x the amount of the card cost for shipping. I know I would end up picking it up if it was needed regardless though.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I'm really tryig to be frugal about the Wake collection. So far I've seen zero autos get listed. I'm trying to study the checklist so I can tell what cards look the rarest. Snagged a 12 card base lot for 1.75 plus 3 bucks or so.

COMC has a huge amount of base Wake. Do you pay for shipping on each card or do they all get shipped at one time?

They all get shipped at once, and the more you buy, the better off you are. There is a base
shipping rate of around $3, and then I believe it's $.25 per card after that. They also put each card
in a new penny sleeve and/or toploader. For example, I ordered 8 cards. The 2 "outside" cards were
in sleeve/toploader, with the 6 "inside" cards in sleeves.
