Nice vintage. I must have had hundreds of those 1968 Topps cards when I was a kid. Wish I still had 'em.

You are making up for it with all the 1969 Topps you are buying up, Dave! :)

This brings up an interesting thought. How cool would it be if I wound up buying some of the cards I had opened when I was a kid? Kind of Twilight Zoneish, don't you think?

A similar thing happened to me once at a library sale. Saw a shelf of old text book readers that I recognized as ones I had read in the second or third grade. Opened one of them and saw that in the front where students write their names was the name of a girl I remembered. There were ten duplicates on the shelf, so I looked through them and sure enough, there was my name scrawled in the front of one of them (along with a little picture of a man's head in a cowboy hat!) I bought it and still have it. Just weird. :geek: :? :?:

Especially if you had put your initials on them or marked them in some other way. Rebought them off ebay and discovered your branding.

Would be cool if the cards came from a state clear across the country; make you wonder where it had travelled all those years. :)

If I run across some with bicycle spoke marks, they could be some of mine, only Yankees of course. The "other" New York team! :D

All my items have bids now, and my Frank has 6 watchers, so I'm happy. I've never done anything but 7 day auctions, so the 3 day stuff is more intense.

Calgary has a 3-1 lead going into the 3rd.
Glencross has a pair and Stajan has 1. Iggy has 1 A.

I hope no Mantles ended up in those spokes, Dave. :(

To be honest, I wouldn't doubt it because a friend of mine was as big a Yankee fan as I was a Mets fan. I remember trying to trade some of my Yankee doubles for his Mets doubles and he refused every attempt I made. His name was Steven something. So I probably went upstairs, got a couple of wooden clothes pins, secured the Yankee doubles to the forks of my bike and took off with the cards making my bike sound like a motorcycle in need of repair. Good times.....

Hey Jesse, I met my wife at a hockey game in Fairbanks, AK. I refer to my ticket as the best $5.00 I ever spent! :D

When I need money quick (and when don't I?) I often will run 5 day auctions/BINs. Seems to sometimes lead to bidding frenzies for some reason.

Reminds me of a funny story (of course, everything reminds me of a funny story):

I first met Chris at the college where I now work. She was working behind the counter of the Tutoring Dept. and when I was asking her questions about some paperwork, she got REALLY annoyed with me and told me in a snotty voice, to "take the papers over to Personnel. I don't need or want them!"

I remember as I walked over to Personnel thinking, "Man, what a b----! Hope I never have to deal with her again!"

100% TRUE story!!

Oh yeah, I forgot.

I will tell it tomorrow morning when more people are on. Remind me if I flake out.
