I personally love being that connected to FCB, and I don't keep any app running in the background. I don't want apps draining battery or using up data so I generally close them when not being used. I don't think I get a lesser "app experience" by not keeping them running.
I put the Android app widget on one of my screens and I use it to close any app I'm not using.

How about the auto-refresh? Any chance for that?
Wait until your phone send a charge through your brain and you wont even need it to come here since you'll be rewired.
Just conform so that isnt needed,,,

The old app did not auto refresh.
That feature has never been a part of our system.

Probably not in the android app, but the iOS app does have the option.

And it did auto refresh on my phone every time I backed out of a thread.
Not trying to break rule #1, just telling it like it is(was)
