Holland gone as well.

we signed Derrick Dockery and Tony Fiammetta, who will be our starting FB. rumors are that Rucker will be cut in order to make room, which sucks one day after being told that you made the team

Hopefully they finally have a blocking back. Sucks for Rucker but they already have Phillips as the back-up. Dockery was a solid signing.

Newman out, Jenkins questionable for Sunday night

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... day-night/

The Cowboys will definitely be short one starting cornerback when they take the field against the Jets on NBC Sunday night, but we’ll have to wait to find out if they will be without both starters.

Terrence Newman is listed as out on Friday’s injury report, which means that, as expected, his groin injury hasn’t healed enough for him to get on the field. The other starting Cowboys corner, Mike Jenkins, is listed as questionable after being limited in practice with the knee injury he suffered on Wednesday. He said he was “good to go” after a limited practice on Thursday so it seems likely the Cowboys will have one of their regular cornerbacks in the lineup.

Rookie tackle Tyron Smith, who hyperextended his knee at the same practice that saw Jenkins go down, is also listed as questionable. Per David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, Smith wasn’t cleared to do any stretching or contact work during Friday’s session which sounds like a bad omen for his chances of getting his NFL career underway on Sunday.

The Cowboys also ruled tight end Martellus Bennett out with an ankle injury. Center Phil Costa is listed as questionable with a knee injury and wide receiver Miles Austin sounds ready to play after being listed as probable thanks to a hamstring injury that’s bothered him throughout the preseason.

Most places are saying Tryon Smith is out 2-4 weeks minimum.

And I don't think losing Newman is too big a loss for this week. The key to beating the Jets is stuffing the run, then getting after Sanchez. He's always performed poorly when under alot pressure...

I REALLY hope I'm wrong, but I don't like the looks of this one at all. The setting, the pre-game 9/11 emotion, the Jets first nite game in the new place, the Ryans trying to one-up each other, the Jets' great Pass D, the new Kicker, any of it.

31-10 or so for the Bad Guys. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong.

My hopes for this season are a .500 at best. I'm just really not liking things with this team this year. I hate myself for feeling that way.

any word on how many reps Laurent Robinson will get, if he even plays at all?
The bum has already been ruled out with a hamstring injury. :x

Later reports have him feeling much better than earlier in the week.

The Cowboys are likely to sign veteran cornerback Frank Walker.

http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/nick_ ... d=blogDest

In need of adding depth to the cornerback position, the Cowboys will likely sign veteran journeyman Frank Walker, a nine-year pro who is now with his sixth pro team.

Walker (5-11, 196), was recently cut by the Titans in training camp. He was signed by the Vikings last season where he had 17 tackles and one interception in 12 games.

Throughout his career, Walker has been mostly a nickel corner, although he does have 17 starts, but only 10 since his rookie season with the Giants, who drafted him out of Tuskegee in 2003 in the sixth round.

Walker will likely have to play Sunday in San Francisco, considering Orlando Scandrick isn’t expected to play and Terence Newman hasn’t played a snap since last year’s season finale. Add in the fact Mike Jenkins suffered three different injuries last week in New York, at times leaving just Bryan McCann and Alan Ball to man the cornerback spot.

To make room for Walker, the Cowboys will need to release someone, but they won’t have to turn that move into the league office until 3 p.m. (CDT).

Spots where the Cowboys are somewhat heavy in numbers include tight end, where Martellus Bennett could come back this week, which could make Martin Rucker expendable. The Cowboys also have six wide receivers after adding veteran Laurent Robinson last week. Robinson injured his hamstring in his first practice and was not active against the Jets.

Hopefully Rob Ryan can put together another fantastic game plan this week. He did an amazing job w/ the 4th and 5th string DB's last week.

That's if Rob Ryan isn't in jail for manslaughter, because I'm pretty sure he killed one of the Cowboys after the game in a blind rage.

The Dallas Cowboys released wide receiver Laurent Robinson. The team re-signed fullback Tony Fiammetta.

I wish they would have re-signed Gronkowski if they wanted to re-sign a fullback. He's on the Colts now, but I assume that's the equivalent of being a free agent now.

He's not a strong enough blocker for the way Garrett uses a FB. I'm surprised they didn't just stick w/ Phillips back there.

REPOST: Franchise's Mt. Rushmore.

My reply:

For the Pokes, first three are easy:

Staubach, Emmitt, Lilly

but then it's get tough.

Landry, Irvin, Randy White, Woodson, Dorsett.

maybe even DeMarcus Ware, but it might be too soon.

So who's the Fourth head to put up there? :?

Aikman or Jimmy Johnson.
