+1. He's not at all underrated.

I've seen some Sox fans say he's a top five hitter in baseball.

Completely agree with Werth, however.

The only reason I say Youk is that there has always been that "other player" in Boston that has taken the limelight i.e Manny - Ortiz ect... He is getting way more love now - but that has not always been the case.

I think any time this topic comes up it should be titled.

The Most Underrated Players In Baseball Other Than Michael Young. Seeing as he's always on the list.

Agree with the Youk comment. Tim McCarver said he should be the MVP of the league for making less than the Yankees 1b and 3b. He is in no way underrated

Ehhh..Michael Young is a very good player, but he is a .200 hitter with RISP.

Werth had a very good year last year, but was very inconsistent. Even at the beginning of this year he would go through incredible hot streaks and bad cold streaks. Now he seems to be breaking out of an 0-fer slump a lot quicker. The first couple of games back after the break he seemed a little off, but he was able to work through it and still but good at bats together. I love how many pitches he takes.

I agree with you on Josh Johnson - the guy will win a Cy Young at some point.

Some of these guys have been top prospects for years, multiple time all-stars and WS MVPs. I don't see how they're really underrated. Maybe they're not getting as much credit as they deserve, but I think people know just how good they really are.

Isn't that underrated? :)

These topics are completely subjective, a case can be made for anyone. I once listed Pujols as the most underrated player, because people would still list one or more players ahead of him when talking about the best in baseball.
