Mark Buehrle.

Let's compare him to someone who is NOT underrated, CC Sabathia, as both he and Sabathia really got started in 2001, with Buehrle making 32 starts (at age 21) and Sabathia making 33 starts (at age 20), and both are lefties:

Seasons with 30 or more starts: MB = 8, CC = 7
Seasons with 200 or more innings: MB = 8, CC = 3
Wins: MB = 128, CC = 126
Winning Percentage: MB = .590, CC = .615 (.599 in the American League)
ERA: MB = 3.77, CC = 3.66 (3.81 in the American League)
ERA+: MB = 123, CC = 121
CG: MB = 23, CC = 28
Shutouts: MB = 7, CC = 11
WS titles: MB = 1, CC = 0

In 19 starts this year, Buerhle is 10-3 with a 3.52 ERA. In 20 starts this year, CC is 9-6 with a 3.66 ERA.

Buehrle is only 16 months older than CC, in case you were wondering.

Very much agreed. I think he is always overlooked because he doesn't throw 95 MPH.

I love a "get the ball and throw type pitcher" - and he surely fits into that catagory. I would agree that he is underrated.

1. Yovani gallardo - Straight up filthy
2. Kendry Morales - on pace for 30 HR in first year as starting 1b
3. Torii Hunter ( i know he was an all star, but rarely mentioned among elite outfielders)

Yeah, unfortunately for Buehrle, CC will pitch for much longer and distance himself in the end.

If he didn't play for the Sox, he would be one of my favorite players.

Considering none of these guys have put together a full season of successful play yet, it's hard to make a case for them.
