Would I buy a box? Certainly not. Would I buy an auto of my guy for the PC? Sure why not - if it was cheap. what's the difference between this and a postcard with the guys auto on it that auto hounds love to have.

I'd dish out a couple bucks for a Markakis or Brian Roberts or a Wieters.

On this point I agree! An auto is an auto IF cheap enough why not?

Another idea would have been to put the stickers on sketch cards and have the artist sketch the player (100% legal)...

Creativity could have taken this from junk to something really innovative..

I don't understand why companies hammer out sets in areas where they lack the ability to produce quality. These resources would surely go a long way in a college football legendary cuts.. Or hell even getting exquisite out. Instead you tie up funds in cutting, packing out, and delivery.. Epic fail..

Unless its a cash grab.. Then it's an epic fail!

I would bet these stickers were already paid for and with the lost license there was no other way to use them and recoup much needed cash..

I know why they did it...
This release might make future products a reality (using this cash)..

Bottom line - Greed is the responsible for this. MLB & the players association...millionaires distributating / playing a child's game. Put a picture of a player or a team's name on a card --- fruck you ...pay me want a signature or a piece of a uniform -- fruck you ...pay me. It's really hard to sympathize with someone who spends 4-5 hrs a day (maybe) on a field playing a game & makes 20 - 2000 times more than the fan who goes to these games to escape their low paying crappy jobs. What's that the players dont wanna sign because someone might make a few dollars on it??? Too bad ...it's the field of profession you have chosen - you should be thankful that someone actually will pay to collect your autograph in todays economy. Who loses in all this? The person who collects cards for his collection.

I saw these last night when I was looking for Edgar Auto's..

It was nice to see cards with auto's of teammates.. Good idea if these would have had pictures back in the early to mid 2000's..

Looking at the Beckett video.. Chris pulls the Brandon League auto and said he was in the minors.. except he has been on the Mariner's roster as thier closer and now this year as a set up.. :benson:

This is one of the worst products upper deck has ever put out. I've seen a couple griffeys on ebay. They were cheap looking and overpriced. Reminded me of the world of sports set they put out a couple years ago. I would pick up the griffey autos if they are cheap. Dirt cheap. It is just sad to see this innovative giant fall this far.

Looking at Ebay I am amazed at some of the starting prices for cards of guys who have never stepped foot on a major league field (or have had a cup of coffee in the majors) while hall of famers and future HOFers barely get a low ball starting bid. I am not a big fan of this set but this might be a great way for me to obtain some certified autos of guys I saw play as a kid that will not cost me an arm and a leg. Yes, they dont have pictures on them but I am good with that. You can keep your pack ripping on this product...for me, I will bottom feed and pick up cards of great players for cheap.

If you're in to making custom cards, these are a great source to get autos to put in/on your customs.

Before you spend your money on these I would look for other "off" brands like the aforementioned Nabisco. Most HOF players that have played in the past 50 years have enough certified autograph cards that you can get a much nicer looking card than 2012 SP Signature and only spend a few extra dollars per card. They've signed so many by now that the price of a card doesn't get really high unless it's serial numbered.

As for making custom cards from these, I would still go with a signed index card over a sticker to cut out. I think a clean white background would almost always look better than a sticker auto.

I looked them up. They can go anywhere from $9-$20

Most of them were signed perfectly in the center.

I bought the Ernie Banks last year for $10 at a Music store.

You can still snag the 1994 Nabisco set for around $30-$40 total. One of the best deals on HOF auto's out there.

While this is a terrible baseball card product, it's an awesome index card product. You can be reasonably certain these autos are authentic, and this doesn't look bad, even without a picture.

If you're an autograph collector instead of/in addition to a baseball card collector, you can be happy.

Words cannot express how disappointed I am that after 5 years since his last certified pack-issued autograph card, this is what I get:

God that is ugly. And even with generic silhouettes, Grace is a lefty (silhouette is a righty), and Martinez is a righty (silhouette is a lefty). Just details like these that make me hate this product above and beyond my usual hatred of cards with no player images.

Can't believe someone best offered $55 for the card above. Was listed at $89. Only way I'll buy one of these is if it gets dirt - like Pigpen dirt - cheap.
