Leake or Heyward would get my guess/vote, although I'm not going to rule out anything with this kid.

So at this rate he'll be 10-15 and 0 and yes, then he should win it.

He will be sent down sometime in late July. They will limit the number of innings he throws in the majors this season.

I'm surprised someone has started a thread asking if Strasburg is a Hall of Famer or not.

I really hope voters aren't thinking this way:

Why wouldn't they? And sorry to exclude Jaime from the list, he definitely deserves to be there. Somewhat confused as to why Leake and Heyward wouldn't be there too though? Checked my stats quick just to see if there was a reason I hadn't seen, but Leake is 5-0 (should be 9-1 or so with run support) with 2.68 ERA, Heyward has 10 HR and 43 RBI's, and Jaime is 6-2 with a 1.50 ERA... Seems like all 3 have been pretty spectacular this year...

Hard to say after two outings. I would have said Heyward was a lock after the first month of the season, but now his power has slowed and the average isn't improving. So, I think it's wide open for Strasburg to slide in and take it. Leake, Garcia, and Freese as good as they've all been just aren't as dynamic as Strasburg or Heyward.

P.S. Mike Stanton could play into this too.

He's not going to be sent back down. That would = the Nationals just pissing money away. They just have him on an IP limit and I'm sure he'll be shut down sometime in September.

They are not going to send down someone who brings people to the ballpark whether he's pitching or not.

And to the OP, he'll have to win about 10-12 games with a REALLY low 2 ERA or sub 2 ERA and over 100 K's to win it.

Unless Mike Leake or Jason Heyward completely drops off after the All-Star break - it is between those two.

They said they will limit his innings an shut him down at some time this season. "shut him down" doesnt mean sending him to AAA it means giving him 6-7-8 days rest. They will make sure he doesnt pitch more then 130-140 innings this year. The Nats also said they want him to pitch in September this year so expect him to get lots of rest in the dog days of summer. Unless the Nats are competing they are really gonna keep a close eye on the kid look for most of his starts to last as long as today's did.

they sould give it to him now no questions asked

ummmm, the regular MLB season is a grinding marathon, not a 100-yard dash. Let's see what his stats are in September (and the other candidates, too) before we judge the ROY.

It's the middle of June ya'll. There's like 88 more games. We aren't quite halfway though.
Of course Strasburg could win. Jaime Garcia could, Mike Stanton, Ike Davis, Jason Heyward, Mike Leake, hell, Gaby Sanchez could.
Ain't it great to have a big crop contending? Seems like it's usually 2 or 3. It'll probably be 2 or 3 in September. Still too many for me to put my money on.
Pretty sure it won't be Alcides Escobar though. That sucks.

stanton..no strasburg..no it's the rookie of the year award... not rookie of the 3/4 year award or rookie of the half year award. if there were a rookie of the year for cheap franchises award then stanton and strasburg would be eligible

Is that what you said the year Ryan Braun won it...or Evan Longoria?
