They also did a roadtrip where they took a 150-200 mile radius, went to every department store in the area, cleaned them out of hot packs, and opened and sold some.

They ended up pulling a Ruth GU from one of them.

There's a few dealers in my area that does this. One is really bad; he hits every Target and Walmart in a 100 mile or so radius, and then sells hot packs at shows. I've overheard another bragging about how Target security is powerless to stop him, and he seems to have no problem verbally abusing store employees who try to stop him. It really is sickening, to the point that I refuse to buy from one of the guys after seeing all the wreckage he leaves in his wake.

I'd love to see him on a "Wall of Shame" - take video and/or pics of the guy(s) 'in action' and post it somewhere. It would be an official Scumbag Hall of Fame.

The last few times I saw pack searchers at a Target, I acted like I was LP. One was a guy that was sitting on the floor with a few Topps football boxes. Had an empty basket with me, so I kept peeking through the bottom at him. He was getting visibly uncomfortable, but didn't move. He was pretty fat, so I guess he figured it was too much effort to get up.

A few weeks back I saw two fat grotesque looking goth girls pack searching WWE cards at a Target. It was like seeing what the Comic Book Guy would have looked like as an acne-riddled teenage girl.

Not sure if this would work but what if we all found his user ID and we all bought one or 2 of his hot packs. Then we all file item not as described and claimed there was no auto or game used???
How can he really prove they are in there without opening them??? With tons of people saying they didn't get it eBay will have to side with the buyers especially if there are multiple people saying it wasn't a hot pack. I know it's not very honest but screw this guy. And we can all donate the cards to a good cause.

Who's in ????? We got his eBay ID

ME

.................I truly believe what the dude does is wrong on so many levels and for what its worth I think the dude rode the little yellow bus way too long when he was a kid..I for one will not be a thief nor will I cheat EBay and the like..And I bet both you guys are straight-up decent dudes and you should stay that way..Mama always told me, two wrongs dont make it right..And I took that to heart many years ago..OK done!! Off the high horse for the night!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

I agree but I was just curious on how he can 100% know for sure every one is a hot pack. If the buyer said there was no hit in there how can he prove it??? I guess in the end the guy will get what he deserves one way or the other. He is probably a single very lonely man/ ****** and this is his only way of getting off.

In theory, everyone who buys from him could file not as described and screw him royally.

His name is John Parrish, as revealed in this video at around the 18 second mark:

His street address in North Carolina is plainly visible around the 2 and a half minute mark.

Ya know, if someone wanted to randomly take that address and put it on embarrassing mailing lists... not that I'd do something like that or even condone it...

Next time you see a pack searcher in action, just go up and grab the packs out of his basket and buy them yourself and say thanks. Are they really going to chase you?

They better use they "millions" they make off these hot packs to invest in a hybrid vehicle then. Otherwise they are paying a crap ton in gas.

Not to be  but this is a non-point, could drive that entire "road trip" on a single tank of gas which could be $50 to $60 or more if they drive like a hummer but either way not like they'll spend thousands on gas to make these trips.

Back on topic, how much do they get for these "hot packs" anyways? I mean part of me feels like they could probably make more money opening up their "hot packs" and selling the product.

Most retail "hits" are $1-2 jerseys. They can make much more selling the packs.

Many sellers lie about whats in these hot packs, so they make a lot more than they should. I have seen hot pack sellers selling retail hot packs as hobby, claiming the possibility of hobby-only GU or autos in them. The average hot pack buyer isn't very well educated to begin with, so things like that will go right over their heads. Not to mention the high probability that many of them know what's in them already, after opening and resealing them.

Meh. Let them have it. Just imagine - he has to wake up the next day... and be him.

The SADDEST part is that the losers doing this see nothing wrong with this. I'm sure they justify it as "just beating the system" and using their "intelligence" to their advantage...

This is exactly right. I couldn't agree with this comment any more. They feel as though they are simply beating the system and using intelligence to score "hot packs". I'm sure most of these scammers would say "if I could show you a way to increase your oddes of hitting a lotto scratch off which pays, would you do it or just still buy at random?" and some people would probably think okay...

I did that at Target a few years back, to piss a searcher off. When he got pissy, I told him to go get a manager, and explain why he had to have THOSE particular packs.

Got home and opened up a bunch of decoys. Turns out the guy sucked at what he was doing.

I am lucky... I am pretty much the only person that buys retail here, so all the hits are left for me.

I don't search them though, I just take the first pack and buy it.

Here is a video of their "roadtrip."

They clearly say at the 0:36 mark "We are going to sell these because the hot packs sell more than the hits themselves."
