The thread started as a good discussion about the value of a Pujols card, and has since degraded into a hair-pulling catfight among several junior high school girls who can't respect others' opinions.
This board and its members are better than this.
If I was a new member and read this drivel, I'd be looking for a more respectable site.

Look around. There aren't any. FCB is tame compared to most internet forums. And the ones that are more tame due to over-moderation like SCF and Beckett are boring dead zones.

Maybe people just over value these cards?

In this economy how much disposable $$ is there to throw down on cards?

edit - when I say these cards - I meant all game used / auto / patch cards by all mfgs

also with all the contraversy concerning fake memorabilia being bought by card companys - do you thing some of these buyers are not going to be so open wallet when purchasing

I'm sorry I guess I shouldn't find humor in a term used to describe psychopaths who murdered my family members for no reason?
Guess I'm silly that way

The same could be said for; whites, blacks, Americans, Russians, Christians, Muslims, etc....on and on and on.

For what its worth Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David are both Jewish.

It's a 13th year card of a great player & sure HOFer. It's one of hundreds of GU Autos of him. The pic of the player basically emphasizes his baldness (not the most flattering choice of images, and that's coming from a bald guy lol), & it's an unlicensed card to boot. I think $500 is the height of the market for such a card & doubt one will sell for any higher. JMHO of course.

Blazing Saddles was a popular movie. If I use a word that was referenced throughout the movie I guess I wouldn't offend anyone with half a brain ?? It's a pop culture thing like you said.

dude

give it up

The only unlicensed card that even comes close to "iconic" is a...never mind, I can't think of one.

You are seriously comparing a rated movie that people have to pay to see with a network television show. lol Maybe no one should say anything ever. Would you feel better? If you can't even handle a Seinfeld reference, how the hell do you last here on the internet. Holy cow.

I usually attribute it to children without any parental attention

You don't know the answer because you've never tried it. Open a cardshop, line the shelves with everything you think you can make a buck on, and let me know how you are doing in 22 years.

Passively aggressive? Good one!

You have no idea who I am or what I do, all the while ignoring the actual point.

You distribute wares to a specific client base out of a single location, I am a territiory sales rep for the entire eastern board of the united states for my respective field supplying dozens of locations and responsible for 500 million in sales yearly. Do I have product thats my 'go to' stuff? Sure, but do I keep a complete open book to any and all product/vendors for the benefit of my customers? Absolutely, one would be foolishly limiting their profits by no doing so. If I heard any of my store opperators or local distributors talking, and worse acting, in a limited nature such as yours they would be replaced.

In your feverish pitch to remain passively agressive, you overlooked the entire point of my post, did you even read it? In not, please do so now. I'll give you a second.........

Ok, now that we can all clearly see I said in a nutshell that although you may be ok not selling unlicensed stuff, "the real question(s) is one limiting their potential profits? Is one limiting the hobby to their customers?" The answer to both of these questions is obviously, and still undeniable yes. Any LCS could keep current and stay open using your model as long as they are handling the logistics corrently, this is not nor ever was the issue I presented. Are you losing potential sales? Are you limiting your customers? Are you making less than you could/should be? The quick answer is yes.

And the answer is no. I find it hard to believe ANY hobbiest would be appreciative for the fact you are curtailing their hobby expierence.

I have to side with allstars on this one. Pretty sure he knows what his customers want after being in business as long as he says he has. Are you really profiting off a product that he knows will sit on a shelf and collect dust? He knows that he would have to mark down the stuff before moving it. I'm not bashing Leaf here, but Walmart has already seen the non licensed stuff sitting on their shelves. There is a reason the Sage and Leaf blasters from this year are marked down 40%
