Anyone who would throw a home run ball back is a complete idiot!

Plus, any fans that are not in Wrigley Field that want others to do it, need to come up with their own idea. It started in Wrigley and needs to stay there.

I'd personally tell anyone who expected me to throw it back to go screw themselves, regardless of who hit the home run.

Definitely not, if someone did throw it back they would be laughed at... (I'd definitely rather be boo'ed by Dodger fan's & keep the Pujols HR ball than being laughed at by the rest of the world & not having any balls)!

I have heard of people bringing balls to throw back so they can keep the home run balls.

I have heard that this year there are mlb authenticators on site at each game to put holograms on the home run balls caught by fans. The fans are thenm able to keep the home run ball, go home into the mlb hologram database and see the details of thier caught ball. (who pitched it, who hit it and what inning it was hit in) I dont think they are doing this with every single home run ball because that would be close to impossible but i think its a great idea.

At Marlins games they have always given out little certificates when you catch a ball. I always thought that was cool.

I would never throw a HR ball back even if I was in Wrigley and Pujols hit it. It's a dumb tradition that needs to end. Not to mention you probably get kicked out of the stadium for doing it.

I'm not surprised considering they booo Pujols and worship Ramirez but, do LA fans always freak out and think 300 ft. fly balls are HR's?

I remember being at an angels game and Arod hit one out to right field. I knew he was at 299 Hr's but didn't have seats in the outfield. Sure enough, he hits # 300 and became the youngest ever to hit 300. The guy that caught it and threw it back on the field must have felt like an idiot. ::facepalm::

I wouldn't have a problem throwing a homerun back unless it was hit by someone awesome, meaning either someone good (making the ball valuable), or someone I like (and would want to keep the ball in my collection).

Other than that, no big deal. It's just a $10 ball. The story of catching it would be more valuable to me anyway, and it actually would kinda be cool to be able to say you threw a homerun back.

Then again...it sucks when you watch people throw the ball back at Wrigley and then the ball boy goes and grabs it and flips it to a kid in the front row along the third base line...

When I was at a game against the Yankees last month, I think it was Swisher that hit one about three rows in front of me. A guy in the front row of LF caught it. Crawford encouraged him to throw it back, holding his glove out for the guy until he did.
