So are these going to be rolling specials, a la amazon is currently doing on dvd's, or will all the sales be available starting at 6am? I'd love to land a case of Documentary to try and finish my Pirate set, but I really don't feel like wasting all day refreshing the page in hopes of spotting the deal.

It says the deals will be posted "hour by hour" throughout the day. I'll definitely get on when I wake up to see what there is.

Once you add an item to your shopping cart is it guaranteed that you get it, or must you pay before the all of the items are gone (as in it would disappear from your cart)?

They haven't released any time details. The good deals will be spread sporadically

I was planning to but not sure since I'm not a big fan of the whole "we have 2 boxes of x product and it's 50% off so the faster person wins"...and if you don't win..you will have to wait till "when we feel like it" to list the next "special".

I remember on 9/9/09 I hit refresh the whole morning and landed a few boxes which was great but I'd rather have like $20 off a box (and have a good amount on hand with a limit of one per person). I'd go for that one.

Your professor was talking about bait and switch, advertising something with no mention of limited quantities and transitioning the customer off the advertised product to a more expensive; or margin rich product. Many states have laws to help guard against this requiring the retailer to offer and honor rainchecks, and even some requiring that every item in the ad be displayed.
When dealing with the Black Friday deals retailers protect themselves by publishing minimum quantities available in their ads.

Saying "limited quantities" does not give carte blanche when doing these sales.

Further, the 'law' as it pertains to this is very gray (as mentioned) and never (or very sparingly) enforced.
