Offering 10-15% less than the going rate on ebay and telling me that you're "saving me the ebay fees" makes no sense at all. I'm still netting the same amount I would if I had to pay the fees. In essence, you're saving yourself MY fees.

Not really the same situation then is it? Your offer was 50% over the going rate, not 15% under.

I appreciate sellers that don't accept backdoor offers on auctions. Not saying it's right or wrong, I just appreciate it. Thanks, JVC

That's not his point though.

He'd have accepted if it was a better offer...

I just put a bunch of my doubles up for sale and to avoid these types of things I set up all BIN/BO's on them and made sure to list on Ebay double bucks day so if people wanted to take advantage they could. personally I emailed a seller who listed a card I wanted on double bucks day to see if he had a BIN in mind so I could take advantage..alot of sellers could stand to benefit from this mentality on these promotional days.

It may not be the point of this post, but I am glad that he said it anyway. I have lost a bunch of stuff I really wanted because of this. Sure, I could start dropping emails to every seller, but I feel like Ebay has a system, and I think we should stick to it. This is not 'Nam. There are rules!

Use the "post this question" in the auction option, makes them think twice before asking again  .

That still don't stop me. It has happened.

And as a collector, it's not always an option. If you don't ask, your competition will, especially on the rarer stuff.

I always tell people that if they want me to end the auction early, then I want "Gift" payment. I don't get many offers to end early. :o

I ask and get asked. I have no problem with it. Many times I offer more that the card ends up selling for, if the seller decides to let it run. I have rcvd countless emails stating, i should have taken your offer, or do you still want the card, when its at 10% of my offer with an hour left. Many times I end up winning the card for far less than I offered. A while back I offered 90 for a red 2011 bc jacobo /5 rc. The guy asked for 110. I won it in auction for under 30, if I remember correctly. People assume the people asking are just trying to get a great deal on the card. But, this isnt always the case. On a card I need or really want, I offer more than recent sales just to get the card. Seems like the only people who get mad at this are the people who dont ask and lose the card. To a point the OP made, the buyer and seller should agree to split the savings. If it saves the seller 20 in fees, lower the price 10 bucks. No harm, no foul. I like people helping me with my collection and I enjoy getting a card into the hands of a real collector. Too many important things in life to worry about, to get upset about losing a card on ebay. It happens and will continue to happen. And with the way feebay is killing us with cost of business, I'm all for some of us keeping our hard earned money. I recently lost my 20% discount, because two int. buyers complained I charged to much. They agreed to pay registered and I even ate 5-6 bucks on each to do it. So, Im done feeling sorry for ebay. I am friends/family with a top 15 employee at ebay/paypal and have had many discussions with ebay personal at parties. Their attitude towards all this is, where else ya gonna go? So shut up, deal with it and keep making us money. Thats the party line. So, I hope people continue to sell off ebay and save each other money. My hope is that, just like someone had the brains to start fcb, when beckett was screwing around, someone will start an ebay for collectors. That would be sweet. Greg
