I have a lot of catching up to do. Will update over the next few days. 35 points might be the eventual cut off. It seems it's a little easier to have great back to back starts than big games back to back hitting.

Cool, I'll try to find only 35+ games from here on out. Seems like it might be a little more difficult to string together a couple amazing games for hitters because they will face a handful of different pitchers in those 2 games and they will be pitched around and pitchers might try a bit harder not to make mistakes against the hot hitter. It can be a little more luck based with hitters than it is pitchers. I've also noticed how it's more likely for pitchers to have a great 2 game span early in the season (April/May) and you see more great two game spans for hitters mid-season (July/August). The weather does play a huge role in baseball. Although pitchers can be at their best mid season because their pitches will have a lot of movement, just hope the opposing team isn't on their A-game.

King Carl Hubbell 36 Score in 1933

8/28-9/1: 19IP 9H 0ER 2BB 18K

Prince Hal Newhouser 40 Score in 1946

9/18-9/22: 19IP 5H 1ER 1BB 20K

Yeah I wasn't sure if that would count as I did see the game was suspended and resumed the next day....great #'s though. I have only been posting 35+ scores so if 30-34 scores will make the list then Koufax and Pedro have some other 30+ 2 start scores.

Dean Chance 1964 Score of 48.5

6/2-6/6: 23IP 5H 0ER 6BB 27K

Score of 32.5 also in 1964

7/15-7/19: 18IP 9H 0ER 3BB 17K

...and a Score of 31 in 1964

8/14-8/18: 18IP 4H 0ER 9BB 16K

Most underrated pitcher of all time?

Dean Chance was amazing those two games.

I'm a little surprised he didn't put up any bigger numbers.
Same here! Especially when you consider that it's much easier to make the list when you get a lot of strikeouts, which he did. His walks were did downfall, career BB/9 of 4.1 is not going to get you very high on this list.

Juan Marichal 33 Points in 1960 (Best score to start a career??)

7/19-7/23: 18IP 5H 1ER 5BB 18K

34.5 Points in 1961

7/27-8/2: 18IP 6H 0ER 5BB 19K

Juan Marichal 31.5 Points in 1963

6/11-6/15: 18IP 7H 0ER 2BB 9K

...38.83 Points also in 1963

6/28-7/2: 23.2IP 10H 0ER 10BB 23K

He let up a HR in the first start but for whatever reason it was unearned. Can't beat a 16 inning SHO in his second start, though.

31.5 Points in 1965

6/5-6/10: 18IP 12H 0ER 0BB 15K

31 Points in 1965

6/28-7/2: 18IP 11H 0ER 1BB 14K

34 Points in 1965

7/10-7/17: 18IP 7H 0ER 1BB 12K

31 Points in 1966

4/21-4/28: 18IP 10H 1ER 1BB 16K

42.5 Points in 1966!

5/22-5/26: 23IP 9H 0ER 2BB 15K

31.5 Points In 1966

7/8-7/15: 18IP 8H 1ER 3BB 17K

35 Points in 1967

4/29-5/3: 18IP 9H 0ER 2BB 20K

39.66 Points in 1969

8/15-8/19: 22.1IP 10H 1ER 4BB 22K

36.5 Points in 1969

9/12-9/16: 18IP 5H 0ER 2BB 15K

I think I linked those all correctly. Yeah, the Dominican Dandy was a damn good pitcher.

Marichal may best Nolan Ryan for the most dominant back to back outings.

Joe Oeschger
4/26/20 - 9 IP, 6 K, 1 ER, 7 H, 2 BB
5/1/20 - 26 IP, 7 K, 1 ER, 9 H, 4 BB

I calculate 50.5

40.5 in just the 26 inning game by itself! I don't think this one will be beaten.

Wow! And thanks for updating the thread. I'll try to find some more 35+ scores later on tonight. Some damn good names on the list. :)

I added Dave Stieb. He had back to back games where he lost a no-hitter in the 9th inning.
