Figured id make a thread for the deadline, post any rummosr comments trades whatever here. I will rty and keep the first post updated with all the trades that happen.

Thrashers get Evgeny Artyukhin for Nathan Oystrick and a conditional draft choice in the 2011 draft

decent pickup, i liked Leopold a lot when he played in Calgary.

I think it's a great pickup especially for a 2nd round pick. this leaves the Pens with 1 too many defensemen. rumors has it Shero may be dangling Goligoski or Letang to get a winger.

interesting... i dont know if i would want to get rid of either one of them. I guess though it depends on who they are getting. Letang and Goligoski are both pretty young and still have potential to develop into even better Dmen then they already are.

I agree Bilko. I don't see them trading Letang. he is a RFA after the season but I don't think they will have any trouble resigning him.

I'm a big fan of Goligoski's game but Ben Lovejoy who played a few games for the Pens earlier this season is pretty much the same player and will be here in Pittsburgh next year so Goligoski is expendable.

Sergei Gonchar is a UFA and the Pens and Gonch agreed to break off contract talks until after the season. I don't think they will trade him but you never know. Gonch has stated several times he wants to finish his career in a Pens uniform but they can't afford to pay him too much.

the rumor is the Pens are putting together a package for Toronto's Alexei Ponikarovsky. if they have to send Goligoski and a pick to Toronto or a straight up trade of Tyler Kennedy for Ponikarovsky I am fine with either of those scenarios.

I don't think we discussed this on the boards. Kind of got swept under the rug with all the Olympic hoop-la going on, but Calgary signed Rene Bourque to a 6 year deal (averages out to $3.3 million per, a great deal nowadays ) a few days ago. He was gonna be UFA after this season, so i really thought Calgary was gonna lose him out right or they would trade him at this deadline. Im glad that neither one happened. Rene Bourque has turned into a really great player.

Jesse told me that the other day and that is a great deal for both Bourque and the Flames. he has become a very solid player.

he meant the Pens getting Leopold and the the Preds getting Grebeshkov, both solid moves.

I see. Both are good to help the depth at D but I think the Grebs is an overpay for a short term rental player who is terrible defensively.

Why do they continually go after second tier goalies? I was hoping they'd find a way to get Vokoun after hearing he would waive his NTC.

i keep waiting for the capitals to make a trade. i hope they make some trade, as long as its not just plain stupid. hopefuly they will have a new team when i come home from school trade deadline day
