I couldnt agree more with this post. I was expecting the Brewers to get SOME talent in return for Hardy, but all they ended up with is a salary dump. Gomez is nothing more at this early stage in his career than a 4th outfielder/defensive replacement.

Dude....he's 24 years old.

And Fixed.

It is a ggood trade for both teams. Im happy to have a young speedy outfielder that has lots of raw talwnt. The brewers are great at molding and teaching talent like this. He should start the season in AAA and we will go from there. Of course this opens the door for alcides which is a good thing. He will finally get a taste of every day play from the beginning of the year. The before mentiuoned saving of $ is also great for us and this probably also means that Cameron is headed out the door in the near future. i just hope we can get some decent value for him (25 homers but .250 average and getting older by the second) but still plays solid defense.

as for jj hardy. I hate to see him go but it was time. His numbers kept falling with pressure from escobar right on his tail. His defense is definately above average and he is also still young and has shown signs of great hitting in the past. I think the twins got a good young ball player who has proven that he can hit for power and a decent average in the big leagues.

Wow are you narrow-minded.

Gomez, whether in the minors or majors, has never put up an OPS higher than 775. Although he has above average speed, he is a below average base runner and takes bad routes on balls in the field. I understand that you want to be excited about an acquisition, but this just was not a good trade. I like the Brewers and I always hope they win the Central, but I think Hardy was worth much more.

Brewers sold really low on Hardy imo. Gomez has been a huge disappoint here in Minnesota. I'm glad they decided to keep Delmon over him.

Bittersweet.

I am sad Go-Go is leaving, but I would much rather have Hardy...

Cameron is a Free Agent so this is where about $10mil of it comes into play. No sense in signing him with Gomez.

J.J. Hardy sucked this last season. What kind of player did you expect them to get for him?

Not top tier talent of course, but some talent would have been nice. Gomez sucks.

YOU'RE MISSING THE POINT! The deal made sense because of the POSITION of the player in return.

We needed to fill CF. Gomez may not be the best player, but the mixture of youth, upside, and contract control allowed us to net 14 million dollars. And it has to be someone who plays everyday to fill Cameron's role.

Name another CF in the game who would have been a better fit? And please, be realistic.

Scott Podsednik would be been a MUCH better option. The $$ difference would not have been enormous, but the production difference will be gargantuan. The Brewers could have traded Hardy for some young talent, rather than wasting Hardy's value.

Podsednik is 33 years old. 34 on opening day. No thanks.

True, but so are the Twins, and they never seemed to be able to reach the guy.

HE's 23!!!!!! He's had 892 AB's for the Twins in two years. And he's already solid defensively.

Jeesh!
