It holds BGS, SGC, and PSA slabs securely because the slabs actually stick up over the insert, and the foam padded top seats down upon them, holding them upright. I think cards in a toploader would move, but that could be easily fixed by laying a piece of rigid foam atop the toploaders, inside the recessed well. With the lid closed, the foam would be held in place, preventing the toploaders from moving.

That is sweet, may pick one of these up, but my question is how much is just the foam insert??? If we already have or can get a Pelican case somewhere else, but needed the foam insert??

exactly because the case it self looks like you can get for under a 100 so how much is the insert it self?

I will be emailing the guy in a bit, but according to what I have seen the foam inserts range from $50-$100ish.....

He got back to me and he still does sell them. They hold 250 PSA slabbed cards and they are $200 each delivered.

As far as locking I know that the sides have holes so that you can put a lock on it, but I'll double check to see if that thing in the middle is a key lock as well. I'm also making sure he's ok with people emailing him and I can PM his address to anyone that is interested.

I'm probably going to pick one up, even though I was hoping they were a little lees. They are tanks though...I think you can run them over with a car without damage to the case.
is that a three row or four row and if so how much is just a three row?

He doesn't build the 150 count 3 row cases anymore. I think I may have posted a pic of the 250 ct box at the top as well...not the 350.

I like the 4 row better if that is what he is making now. That fits the Pelican 1550 correct??? I agree, these are super nice and I am getting sick of the old cardboard box in a bag gig...

Great stuff, this guy should venture into the card market more, I bet a ton of people would buy these...

There is no profit in it really. He pays one of his suppliers to make the special inserts...and his flat cost includes shipping the bigazz cases. He's said in the past, he just does it to help collectors and provide a quality product. Some folks tried to get him to set up at the National, but the cost of getting there and back, setting up, the whole deal would have cost him money...even if he had come with a lot of stock and sold out.

You can build your own, but the foam is like "egg crate" material, not rigid, and it gives a lot. The foam insert he has made is kind of a plastic/poly blend...sort of like you see in the boxes of some high end electronics...my yoga mat is made from the same stuff. Anyway, it's durable and won't rip like the stuff that comes in a retail purchase. After awhile, especially if you make the membranes between each pocket too thin, the traditional foam will rip apart.

Agreed, they are big enough that it would take a lot to have them shipped or bring them to a big show to set up. Compared to their overall market, I am sure the card market is probably very small in comparison. I am pretty sure I have the case already, so I will just email him and see how much the 4-row bottom foam insert and top foam insert will cost me.

Thanks for the help and insight

No problem. I really believe in the product, and if you have a high end collection, I truly believe there is no better way to store it. There are people who use one of these per PSA graded set they own...we're talking '86 Fleer BKB sets, '50s Topps Baseball Sets...just high quality stuff. I don't think anything will make you happier or give you a feeling of better security.

I think that he's ok with people emailing him, but let's try to be respectful. Don't spam him or send him any weird ****.

Unfortunately, there's no lock built in, but like I said it can accommodate two padlocks (or those suitcase locks if you choose).

mbmiller25 at yahoo d-o-t com is where he can be reached.

And if it needs saying, I have no connection to him, his business or this product. Just trying to help out anyone that may be interested.

Hey Guys, Wanted to drop in and say hello. My name is Matt Miller, I am the managing Director for Pelican Products. We manaufacture the cases that are being discussed in this thread. I decided to design these cases a year ago, as I was looking for a way to store my valuable collectibles in the most secure and safe way available (outside of a gun safe/safety deposit box). I make two sized cases 250ct-$200 and 350ct-$250. The cases themselves are air-tight, water-tight, and dust proof. There are two hasps that will accomodate locks, and the cases themselves have a heat rating of 400 degrees which is hotter than most house fires. A little about the foam inside. This is not the same foam that comes in our off the shelf offering. This is a high density, fire retardent/cross linked foam. Its as top of the line as I can possibly make these things. Again, This is not something that I sell mainstream. I build them for board members and hobbyist, because I beleive in the product. I sell them to you for my near actual cost. I am NOT sitting on a huge inventory of these, I have them built to order. If there is anything else I can answer, please posts on this thread or feel free to email.

[email protected]

Our site is www.pelican.com. The site being referenced in previous threads, is actually a distributor of our product.

Thanks Guys, Happy Collecting!
Matt Miller
