I was there today for a few hours. Walked around checking stuff out but didn't buy anything, like usual. I had fun though.

Alright, here is my recap of the weekend.
Got there Friday night around 5:00 with my friend and her daughter, her first Twinsfest at almost 5 yrs old and she was a heck of a trooper, as we didnt leave till 9PM.
OK, my goal for the weekend was to get my Cuddy Mothers Day bat and GU ball from his Cycle Night signes, got both of those out of the way. I posted pics earlier, but what the heck, they are beauties, so I will post again. Cuddy, along with Rauch as he was signing with Cuddy were my only scores Friday night.

End of Friday Night

Start of Saturday
Got to the Dome right around noon, as I didnt want to deal with the Thome Line after seeing it Friday night, well, according to someone that Greg talked too, it wasnt that bad. It was horrible Friday night!!

Went down to the floor and hopped in the Hardy, Perkins, Liriano line, as I needed Hardy 8x10 and Liriano on a dual I had Garza on already, and just because Perkins was there, I had him sign an AG, as they look so nice. BTW, I will tell you reason #276 why Glen Perkins is one of the biggest ******* DBags around later.
Here are pics of the players and items I got:

Frank Liriano

JJ Hardy

IMG00692-20100130-2156.jpg

My wife stayed in line to get the next group, Slowey and Harris, needed 8x10s of them too.

Slowey

Harris
IMG00690-20100130-2156.jpg

Ok, here are a few of the auction items I took pictures of up close.
Here is why Glen Perkins is a DBAG. They had a 2009 team poster signed by everyone currently on the roster, except you know who didnt sign it, that is right, Glen "*******" Perkins. Seriously you DB, it is for CHARITY!!! Sign the ******* thing. OK, rant over, but I cant stand the guy. And no one stick up for him, as he was there all weekend and could have signed it but didnt.
IMG00694-20100131-1200.jpg

Here is the Mauer Jersey that I will talk more about later.
IMG00656-20100130-1357.jpg

OK, there were non-Twins there too, Bob Feller, Denny McLain, Frank Howard, Fergie Jenkins, Rollie Fingers, Vida Blue and George Foster. Here are some shots of these guys I got today, all wonderful guys.

End Saturday

Start Sunday

Had a Rollie Fingers bobble I got at a game in Milwaukee a few years back so I brought along just in case I decided to get it signed, of course I did, looks good IMO. Here it is:

Finger Bobble

OK, todays goal was to get Delmon on 8x10, and then the other guys with him, bid on some silent auctions and win them and watch the live auction and go home. Oh how things can change quickly, for the good. :)
So the wife and I hopped in line an hour before the Delmon, Hardy and Kubel signing, as it was loooooooong. While the wife held our spot in line, I went to look at the auctions I started to bid on Friday and Saturday night, some I was still winning, some I wasnt. So I went over to the Pro Shop for some reason, really didnt want or need anything, but boy am I glad I did. Up on the wall, there was a Cuddy GU Jersey. Just the day before we were at the Roseville Pro Shop and they had the same jersey for $400, so of course I passed. Well, I strained my horrible eyes to see the price, $250, can it be?? Sure as **** was. So I whipped out the ole CC and swiped it up. So here is where plans change, I no longer can win any of my auctions, as I wasnt planning on getting this, so I better make sure I dont win any. No problem, I didnt. So I hop back in line with the wife and we get Kubel, Young and yes, Hardy again. See below the pickups:

After getting thru the line, Cuddy signing was an hour away and I ask the wife if she wanted to go and get him to sign the jersey, she is like Hell Yeah!!! Yeah, she is a Cuddy fan too. Anyway, I will let the pics speak for themselves on the jersey.

IMG00720-20100131-2048.jpg

OK, onto the auction items. I took 5 pics, as they were the most significant IMO, there were a lot of other nice items, but these stood out.

Item #1
A Joe Mauer Game Used bat from this past season. Bo and I could not believe that it went for $2250!!! That is NOT a misprint.
IMG00703-20100131-1424.jpg

Item #2
A base used in Game 163 and a GU ball from 163, both signed by players in the game. Supposedly, this is the only base that will ever come up for auction. And the ending price.......................$1900!!! :o :o :o Again NOT a misprint.
IMG00704-20100131-1433.jpg

Item #3
Morneau Autoed GU Jersey from 2009. Significant as it has the Carl and Metrodome patch. Here is a shocker, the winning bid.....................$1000. Waaaaaaay under price IMO. Morneau doesnt get much love here I guess.
IMG00705-20100131-1438.jpg

Item #4
Mauer Autoed GU Jersey from 2009. Again, significant as it has the Carl and Metrodome patch. Bo predicted it would go for at least $5k, I think I said $3k. The winning bid......................$5000!!! :o :o :o
IMG00706-20100131-1440.jpg

Item #5
Mauer #7 countdown number. So at the dome this past year, they did a countdown thing, well here we have #7 that Mauer signed. How much would you think this would go for? Couple G's max??? Not at Twinsfest. $5100!!! More then the freaking jersey. INSANE!!!
IMG00707-20100131-1452.jpg

OK, there you have it folks, my recap. I hope you enjoyed looking as much as I enjoyed going. :D

Hopefully I can keep this organized. Items grouped by Friday night autographs, then Sunday autographs, then random purchases.

Friday night I mainly stuck to prospects and few retired guys. Browsed the auction items and the dealer items. Nicest card signed is the Gutierrez Elite School Colors followed closely by the Hicks Razor Metal.

And that ends Friday night. Mostly trips through the free line for the MILB guys. On to Sunday where the best cards are a Hicks Razor Metal Blue and an Elite Gold of Gibson (thanks to Jaypers for the quick shipping). Lines were not bad at all on Sunday. Everyone felt the need to be near the front of the line. I gambled and waited and was able to walk right up at the end of the session to get Hardy and a few others.

And lastly, some non-Twins autos and purchases. Mudcat Grant, Vida Blue, Fergie Jenkins, Rollie Fingers, and George Foster were all signing for $20 to benefit Jenkins' foundation and Bob Feller, Denny McLain, and Frank Howard were at the Feller Museum table. I normally stick to HOFers on OMLBs but decided to get a OMLBs signed by Blue, Foster, and Howard.

Random purchases. Boggs $2. Lambert $3. Snyder $2. Couldn't resist at these prices.

Mitchell $5. Jakubauskas $2. Calloway $2.

And for the Tigers and Michigan collections. Morris auto $15. Maroth $3. Hall $2. Crable $5.

And the best shall be last. I picked up Willie Mays OMLB with both the Say Hey hologram and PSA cert for $90. :D

Thanks for looking. TwinsFest was a lot of fun this year.

Alex

P.S. Some of the cards I got signed are extras and I'd be open to trading, especially with those of you who went to other teams fests. Send me a PM.

Musial Collector - Great pics and recap of the auction. I was stunned that the Morneau jersey didn't go higher. I was quickly trying to figure out how high I could bid without needing to spend the next month on the sofa. The GU signed bat in the silent auction went for at least $800 and the GU signed jersey only went for $1000. Makes no sense.

Agreed, as Bo put it, do these ppl not realize how many bats these guys get each year, as opposed to jerseys?
If I had the coin, I would have went for that jersey, but just didnt at this time.

Wow. Never been around on Sunday to watch the live auction. It must be crazy. The Countdown 7 is a pretty unique item, so I'm sorta not surprised it went for so much. But when it's all for charity, people tend to overbid. Only $1,000 for the Morneau is nuts.

Nice haul of autos Alex! Quantity and quality!

That was exactly what I was thinking. On top that, the bat was cracked.

When going through the line for the MILB guys, I asked Rene Tosoni if he'd heard about his "lost" chrome cards. He knew the story and he commented about the number of times he has explained to fans waiting on their redemptions that he really did sign his chrome cards.

This picture looks like a solid pinstripe match on the Cuddy jersey. Check on all the points where pinstripes hit the number and Minnesota. Beauty of pinstripe jerseys is no two are the same. So they are easy to match. Looks like it was worn mid season 2007. The end year shots from 07 of this style jersey is different.

If anyone has any extra signed balls they are wanting to move let me know.
I am especially looking for a Hrbek, Carew, Morneau, or a Mauer ball.

matchpenalty/vwnut13 - Great job on the photo match. Very nice to know when the jersey was used.

One more quick story from the weekend. When Kyle Gibson signed the Elite Gold he slowed down the line a little. He wanted to know what set it was from as he hadn't seen the card before. Then after signing it he passed it around to the other guys at the table and grabbed his cell phone to take a few pictures. Here's the card again so you don't need to search through my previous post.

I know on game used universe Twinsfest thread a couple guys were saying they were going to go all out for the game used Mauer bat in the auction. They said it showed tremendous use. Also they said the Mauer jersey auctioned showed little to no use. I think Mauer just has some very serious game used collectors who aren't afraid to spend big bucks for stuff MLB authenticated and sourced right from the team.

This is exactly correct. Mauer stuff is chased more than Peterson stuff, which suprised me. Peterson has more of a national following, but there are more people that will pay through the nose for Mauer stuff.

Great stuff everyone. I'm always very impressed by the number of major league and minor league players the Twins are able to bring in to this event.

But $2200+ for a bat, let alone a CRACKED one??
